Welcome to MAF Technologies. Known in PNG as Christian Radio Missionary Fellowship since 1956, we’ve been quietly rewiring the story of remote communities for decades. Through radio networks, solar power, digital tools, and innovative tech, we help connect isolated villages to healthcare, education, communication, and the hope of the Gospel.

Now we’re looking for an Electrical Engineer who wants more than a desk job. Someone who wants their work to hum across mountains, echo through valleys, and glow long after sunset. 

In Papua New Guinea, geography is dramatic and infrastructure is not. Many communities sit beyond the reach of the grid. That’s where you come in.

You’ll design and implement renewable energy systems that bring dependable power to places traditional infrastructure cannot reach. Off grid solar. Hybrid systems. Storage solutions. Smart, resilient engineering that stands up to tropical storms and rugged terrain.

You won’t just install systems. You’ll build lifelines.

This role is hands on and future focused. You’ll explore emerging technologies across solar, wind, hydro, marine power, and battery storage. You’ll assess what works best in challenging environments and turn innovation into impact.

One week might involve designing a solar array for a remote health clinic. The next could see you troubleshooting a hybrid system in a mountain village accessible only by small aircraft. Every project has a face. Every solution has a story.

Real change multiplies. You’ll mentor national electricians and apprentices, sharing skills and building local capacity so communities can maintain and expand their own systems. The goal is not dependency. The goal is empowerment. You won’t just bring power. You’ll pass it on.

At its core, this work is about service. We’re looking for an engineer who is passionate about renewable energy and committed to living out their Christian faith in practical, tangible ways. Someone who sees circuits and communities in the same frame.

We’re searching for an Electrical Engineer with both technical muscle and a heart for impact. Someone who sees renewable energy not just as a system, but as a lifeline.

• You’ll hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution and have at least two years of solid, hands on experience in electrical installation. You’re comfortable working with AC coupled solar systems and understand the dynamics of AC and DC coupled configurations.
• You know how to move a project from concept to commissioning, bringing structure, oversight, and calm coordination along the way. A current driver’s licence is important too, because PNG is not a place for engineers who only travel between desk and coffee machine.
• Beyond the technical, you are reliable, mature, and thrive as part of a team. You carry a strong work ethic, a willingness to keep learning, and the flexibility to live and serve in a small community where contribution extends beyond the job description.
• Because this is mission work, we’re looking for someone with Bible College or TEE training, who is eager to live out their faith in practical ways.

• Experience in renewable energy projects will help you hit the ground running. Experience leading people or managing teams is highly valued, especially in environments where mentoring and skills transfer matter.
• Fluency in spoken and written English is important for collaboration and documentation. Experience working within cross cultural teams will also set you up well for life and service in Papua New Guinea.
