The Administrative Director provides comprehensive administrative oversight and leadership of assigned areas. Sets goals and inspires others to achieve them. Designs, plans, directs, evaluates and controls department activities and functions consistent with the strategic vision for Ambulatory Care Services. Oversees all employees in the department. Responsible for strategic and sound business decisions to facilitate program development. Ensures safe, efficient and effective delivery of health care for all individuals cared for in the department. Assures compliance with financial, quality, UH compliance, UH Policy & Procedures, and leads towards achievement of organizational and regulatory goals. Responsible for the budget and revenue cycle. Visionary and innovative leader in teamwork, change management and performance improvement. Ability to deliver under pressure and challenge the status quo in a matrix organization with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • →Promotes culture of service, innovation and learning. Regularly generates new ideas and is willing to take calculated risks.

  • →Serves as a leader to staff, peers and faculty members. Faces and resolves conflict with honesty, integrity and a sense of humor.
  • →Recruits, evaluates and recommends personnel actions for all clinical and business staff. Develops and coaches staff to work as a team; builds collaborative relationships with providers, and all internal and external stakeholders. Ensures staff is provided with constructive feedback and recognition for accomplishments on an ongoing basis.
  • →Responsive to staff and patient needs. Responsible for staff adherence to established standards of care.
  • →Leads the team in providing the “best care” in the “most economical” way while ensuring patient & staff safety.
  • →Responsible for business development, practice growth and marketing efforts of ACS. Actively promotes the organization to the community through own participation as well as engaging the team.
  • →Assures that the staff have tools with which to do their jobs well. Removes barriers. Advocates for the practices to the Senior Leadership as needed.
  • →Monitors monthly revenue performance against goals, and takes immediate action to remedy any discovered issues.
  • →Builds collaborative relationships with all entities involved in revenue cycle such as HIM or Accounts Receivable to optimize billing practices and collection of Part A and B revenues.
  • →Keeps abreast of all billing, coding and reimbursement related matters as they apply to the division and facilitates staff education in regard to these changes.
  • →Serves as a subject matter expert for the practice on any billing changes.
  • →Structures the appropriate process and data flow to ensure timely and appropriate management of clinical and financial matters.
  • →Assures integrity of Time of Service and cash collection processes.

Requirements

  • A Master’s Degree in a Health Care field, Public Health, Business Administration or a related field required; Plus four (4) years of progressively responsible professional experience in a health care or education environment, or a large business or government agency required.
  • Or a Bachelor’s Degree in a Health Care field, Public Health, Business Administration or a related field required, plus six (6) years of progressively responsible professional experience in a health care or education environment, or a large business or government agency required.
  • Experience must include at least three years in a leadership or managerial capacity.
  • Experience with hospital based and/or faculty practice organizations required.
  • Familiarity with Title X guidelines and the grant application process a plus.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with LEAN, or Six Sigma strongly preferred
