Job Corps centers provide a safe environment where students can focus on their education and career training.
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Career Transition Specialist to join our team at the Sacramento Job Corps Center. The CTS will be responsible for helping students find their next career. As well as demonstrates an on-going commitment to preparing young people for the workforce by modeling, mentoring and monitoring excellence in the eight Career Success Standards.
Responsibilities

- →Assists Student by acting like a positive role model
- →Helps prepare student for a Full-Time employment
- →Assistant students in finding a job and maintaining employment in that job
- →Works with students on a job plan and strategy to find their next role
- →Must be able to achieve student placement goals
- →Adheres to all PRH and CMG policies and procedures, and the Center Operating Procedures. Including:
- →Preparing reports and forms and documents in CIS case notes and files observations of student’s behavior, performance, notable information or events, and progress towards achieving goals and objectives.
- →Maintains confidentiality but reports significant events or situations immediately through approved channels to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of students and staff, and to ensure that required reporting occurs, and that students receive emergency services as needed.
- →Facilitates prompt and appropriate assistance to students in the event of injury, illness, or emotional trauma. Meets individually with students assigned to their area responsibility at a minimum of once each month documenting the meetings in the student’s counseling record.
- →Ensures equipment and assigned work areas are clean and maintained in accordance with Center, CMG, and DOL standards. Conducts quarterly property count of their office, submits property relocation requests as needed, may serve as a property custodian. Submits maintenance requests as needed.
- →Conducts Evaluations of Student’s Progress (ESP) and submits appropriate reports
- →Participates in CPP, diversity program, and development of employability plans for students.
Requirements
~1 min readMinimum: Bachelor’s degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, business, communications, or closely related field, and two years related supervisory experience or Associate’s degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, business, communications, or closely related field, and four years related supervisory experience.
Preferred: Master’s degree in counseling, social work or a closely related field. Job Corps or similar experience working with disadvantaged youth preferred.
Knowledge Required: Sound knowledge of counseling techniques, excellent communication skills, both oral and written, knowledge of characteristics and problems of disadvantaged youth, must maintain CPR/FA certification.
