WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Addvolt is seeking a hands-on and customer-focused Field Application Engineer to join our Systems & Application Engineering team. The ideal candidate will support the technical integration, installation, commissioning and validation of Carrier solutions with vehicle, trailer and transport refrigeration OEM platforms.
This role combines field engineering with application and system integration. It requires close collaboration with customers, OEM engineering teams, bodybuilders, installers, service organizations, suppliers and in-house product-development teams to ensure that each integration is safe, robust, documented and ready for deployment.
We are looking for a proactive professional with strong troubleshooting skills, a system-level mindset and the flexibility to support projects at customer and partner sites in an international environment.
As a Field Application Engineer, you will:
- Support the technical integration of Addvolt/Carrier products with trucks, trailers, transport refrigeration units and OEM electrical or mechanical interfaces.
- Review customer and OEM application requirements, interface specifications, installation constraints and vehicle configurations.
- Perform site surveys and technical assessments to confirm installation feasibility and identify required adaptations.
- Support installation, commissioning and functional validation activities at customer, OEM, bodybuilder and service-partner sites.
- Define and verify electrical, mechanical and communication interfaces, including power connections, low-voltage signals and CAN communication where applicable.
- Execute integration and compatibility tests, document results and ensure that acceptance criteria are met.
- Diagnose field issues using technical documentation, measurements, diagnostic tools, system data and structured root-cause analysis.
- Coordinate issue resolution with Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, Embedded Software, Digital, Validation, Manufacturing, Quality and Service teams.
- Provide technical guidance and training to customers, installers, service technicians and OEM partners.
- Create and maintain installation instructions, commissioning checklists, compatibility records, service reports and lessons learned.
- Capture field feedback and translate it into clear engineering requirements, product improvements and corrective actions.
- Support pilot installations, field trials, product launches and follow-the-fleet activities across different markets.
CANDIDATE VALUES AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in field engineering, systems integration, commissioning, technical service, application engineering or product validation.
- Good understanding of multidisciplinary systems involving electrical, electronic, mechanical and software interfaces.
- Practical experience with installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and validation in customer or industrial environments.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings and technical specifications.
- Structured problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills, with a strong focus on safety, quality and customer impact.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, including the ability to work directly with customers and external partners.
- Ability to work autonomously, manage priorities and coordinate activities across multiple teams and locations.
- Availability for domestic and international travel.
- Fluent English, written and spoken.
Nice to have:
- Experience in transport refrigeration, commercial vehicles, trailers, mobile power systems or vehicle electrification.
- Experience working with vehicle OEMs, bodybuilders, transport refrigeration manufacturers, installers or service networks.
- Knowledge of CAN bus systems and diagnostic or communication tools.
- Familiarity with telematics, remote monitoring and data-analysis platforms.
- Knowledge of functional safety, electrical safety, EMC, vehicle integration or applicable automotive and machinery standards.
