Cedar Park Med is hiring Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) for full-time openings in a secure correctional facility. This is a long-term assignment with a steady 3x12 schedule, day or night shift options, and a structured environment where you can rely on clear protocols, strong teamwork, and consistent support.
- Day Shift: 6:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Night Shift: 6:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 3x12-hour shifts
- 13-week assignment to start; may extend into an open-ended/long-term assignment.
- Every other weekend required
In this correctional healthcare setting, the LPN plays a key role in keeping care consistent and patients stable in a secure, structured environment. You’ll deliver hands-on nursing care, support patients with acute and chronic needs, and work closely with the onsite healthcare team and custody staff to ensure safe, respectful care and clear follow-through.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Provide direct nursing care in accordance with facility protocols and security procedures
- →Administer medications and treatments as ordered and within scope of practice
- →Perform basic nursing tasks and patient monitoring, including vital signs, oxygen saturation checks, and peak flow readings as assigned
- →Support chronic care and sick call processes as directed (e.g., patient follow-up, routine checks, reporting changes)
- →Observe patient condition, identify concerns, and escalate appropriately to RN/provider
- →Document assessments, care provided, and patient responses accurately in the medical record
- →Communicate clearly with healthcare and custody staff while maintaining professional boundaries
Requirements
~1 min read- Active South Carolina LPN license
- Current BLS certification or ability to obtain prior to start
- 1 year experience in a correctional, prison, emergency, behavioral health, or other high-acuity clinical setting
- Comfortable working in a secure correctional facility environment
- Ability to work effectively in a secure, structured environment and follow facility protocols
- Consistent, detail-oriented approach to documentation with a strong focus on patient safety
