The Industrial Engineer is responsible for analyzing, designing, and optimizing manufacturing processes, labor utilization, and facility layouts to improve efficiency, productivity, quality, and cost performance. This role partners cross-functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and Maintenance to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement sustainable solutions.
The Industrial Engineer plays a key role in driving operational excellence through data analysis, process standardization, and application of Lean manufacturing principles.
- Analyze current manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for efficiency, cost reduction, and quality improvement
- Design and optimize workflows, production layouts, and material flow to maximize operational efficiency
- Conduct time studies, work measurement, and labor analysis to establish performance standards and improve workforce utilization
- Evaluate production data, process flow, and capacity to identify constraints and improvement opportunities
- Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies
- Develop and implement process improvements, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and work instructions
- Perform root cause analysis and support corrective and preventive actions for operational issues
- Support production teams with troubleshooting, process validation, and optimization efforts
- Plan and evaluate facility layouts, equipment placement, and workflow for improved efficiency and safety
- Analyze inventory, material usage, and production scheduling to improve flow and reduce waste
- Support capital projects, automation initiatives, and new process implementations
- Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as OEE, labor productivity, throughput, and yield
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support new product introduction and process changes
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards within all process improvement initiatives
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies
- Proficiency in data analysis tools
- Experience with CAD software and process simulation tools preferred
- Understanding of manufacturing systems, workflows, and facility layouts
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related engineering discipline required
- 2–5 years of experience in manufacturing, process engineering, or industrial engineering roles preferred
- Experience in food manufacturing or regulated environments (USDA/FDA) preferred
- Work performed in both office and manufacturing plant environments
- Exposure to machinery, production areas, noise, and varying temperatures
- Regular interaction with production teams on the plant floor
