The Sanitor is responsible for ensuring the production facility remains clean, sanitary, and ready for safe food manufacturing. This role performs daily cleaning and sanitation tasks throughout the plant while helping maintain compliance with food safety regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), allergen control procedures, and company quality standards.
  • Clean and sanitize production equipment, processing areas, floors, walls, and other facility surfaces according to established procedures.
  • Perform scheduled sanitation activities following production runs, including allergen cleanups and changeover sanitation.
  • Prepare, monitor, and verify cleaning chemical concentrations to ensure they meet required standards, reporting any issues to management.
  • Refill, install, and maintain sanitation stations, including soap, paper towel, and hand sanitizer dispensers.
  • Track sanitation supply levels and communicate replenishment needs before inventory runs low.
  • Adhere to all workplace safety requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), lockout/tagout procedures, and safe chemical handling practices.
  • Accurately complete sanitation records, cleaning logs, and other required documentation.
  • Assist with internal inspections, sanitation audits, and follow-up corrective actions when necessary.
  • Coordinate with Production and Quality Assurance personnel to address sanitation concerns and maintain operational readiness.
  • Support environmental monitoring activities, including ATP verification and pathogen sampling programs.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Knowledge of safe cleaning and sanitation practices is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work overtime when needed.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is preferred.
  • Previous sanitation, janitorial, or food manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Comprehensive on-the-job training is provided for qualified candidates.
  • This position is performed in a food manufacturing facility where employees routinely work in cold, wet, and noisy conditions. The role requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds throughout the workday. Employees will regularly work with cleaning chemicals and are required to wear appropriate PPE at all times.
