Quality Assurance - NDT Technician 5th shift

Job Summary We’re looking for an NDT Technician – Grain-Laue Inspection to inspect aerospace investment castings using grain evaluation and Laue X-ray techniques. This role verifies grain structure, grain size, and crystal orientation requirements on castings, ensuring products meet engineering specifications, customer requirements, and quality standards before moving to the next stage of production.   Work That Matters At Chromalloy, your work directly supports aviation safety and reliability. What you do here has real-world impact—every day.   Shift: 5th shift, Friday-Sunday 6:00p-6:00a Shift Differential: $3.50   Training: New hires are required to attend New Hire Orientation (Monday, 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.) and first-week training (Tuesday-Friday, 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.). Additional training outside the assigned shift schedule may be required based on business needs or availability. Upon successful completion of training, employees will transition to their assigned shift.   What You’ll Be Doing Perform inspections on aerospace investment castings. Align castings and operate Laue X-ray equipment in accordance with approved techniques and procedures. Evaluate grain structures, grain size, and crystal orientation to verify compliance with engineering requirements. Perform visual inspections on grain-etched components and make accept/reject decisions based on established criteria. Review work instructions, techniques, and supporting documentation before inspection. Complete required inspection records and quality documentation. Perform daily equipment preparation and radiation safety checks. Monitor controlled work areas and follow all safety and radiation protection procedures. Maintain compliance with customer, quality, and certification requirements. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.   What We’re Looking For High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience. 1+ years of inspection, NDT, aerospace, or related experience preferred. Ability to clearly communicate in English, including speaking, reading, writing, and understanding technical procedures and work instructions. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, inspection procedures, and technical documentation. Ability to perform basic arithmetic and geometric calculations. Strong attention to detail and ability to make accurate inspection decisions. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to obtain and maintain Laue Level I and Level II certifications. Ability to maintain required vision and color perception standards.   Nice to Have Aerospace manufacturing or investment casting experience. Previous experience with grain evaluation, metallurgical inspection, radiographic equipment, or NDT processes. Experience interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications. Additional NDT certifications.   Work Environment & Physical Requirements Manufacturing and inspection environment with exposure to moving equipment and industrial processes. Work involves operation of specialized X-ray equipment; radiation exposure potential is highly controlled and closely monitored. Frequent standing, reaching, handling parts, and performing detailed inspection activities. Ability to lift up to 10 lbs regularly, up to 25 lbs frequently, and up to 50 lbs occasionally. Close vision, color vision, and focus adjustment required. Must pass and maintain required near-vision and color perception testing to retain certification eligibility. Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all safety procedures.
