POSITION PURPOSE:
The LFG Ops Manager performs three primary functions:
- Provide oversight and interface with the operations of landfill gas (LFG) systems and energy recovery projects to optimize their production across Terreva’s portfolio of sites;
- Manage landfill gas collection and control system (GCCS) operations, regulatory compliance, expansion, design and construction; and
- Support to landfill gas field technicians.
The LFG Ops Manager reports to the Director of Operations, supports Terreva’s operational assets as a LFG subject matter expert, and is key to the successful operation of Terreva’s existing facilities and execution of its growth plan.
Proven LFG operations knowledge and aptitude for GCCS design, construction and system operations are required, along with an understanding of state and federal regulations which impact GCCS design and operations. The LFG Ops Manager will implement company-wide training programs, directives, policies, and procedures related to GCCS design, construction, operations, and maintenance across Terreva’s portfolio.
Provide guidance and recommendations to internal and third-party gas technicians, site leads, and Regional Operations Managers for the safe and efficient operation of the GCCSs in Terreva’s portfolio.
Participate in external communications with landfill owners and operators, local, state, or national stakeholders to discuss optimizing GCCS operations, ensuring environmental protection or performance, and reducing compliance costs to the field.
Manage internal and external (consultant) resources to support compliance monitoring, testing, and reporting; GCCS program development; LFG collection optimization programs; and on-site audits.
Manage asset development, including GCCS installation/modifications, capital projects, engineering design, planning, budget, schedule, construction, procurement, and commissioning across the Terreva fleet.
Provide input into the annual budget and production forecast for all Terreva GCCS operations. Including operating expenses, capital projects and long-term GCCS infrastructure planning.
Organize and execute routine communication with Terreva leadership team regarding significant development projects and ensure compliance and consistency with Terreva GCCS and air quality programs.
Support landfill site managers in responding to and resolving any regulatory issues pertaining to LFG/GCCS operations.
Be available to go “hands-on” to fill any gaps in team operations or knowledge or to provide support on projects or responses to operational challenges that may arise.
Lead by example in safe operation and maintenance to prevent human injury or equipment damage while maintaining regulatory compliance.
Meet or exceed all established performance goals and objectives as directed by management.

10+ years of relevant work experience in similar roles.
Senior-level knowledge and experience in GCCS construction, operation, and optimization.
Valid and unrestricted driver’s license.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; technical writing, phone, email, and chat etiquette
Familiarity with state and federal regulations pertaining to the operations of a GCCS
