INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST
Compensation: $85,840.97 - $88,614.22







 POSITION SUMMARY:

As a member of the WPS IT helpdesk team, the IT Specialist provides critically important front-line hardware and software support to WPS staff.  IT Specialists are the centralized point of contact and control for incoming requests, issues, and problem resolutions, and as such, work with and support all staff members and technologies within the Windsor Police Service.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada;
  • Community College Diploma (2 or 3 years) in an information technology related discipline, including coursework related to IT hardware and software support, or University Degree in an information technology related discipline;
  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of and experience with implementing, supporting and troubleshooting hardware, software, printers, peripherals, and mobile devices;
  • Must have general knowledge and experience with networking concepts;
  • Must have exceptional customer service skills;
  • Must possess strong problem solving and problem management skills;
  • Must be able to effectively manage multiple technical initiatives independently and as a part of a team;
  • Previous experience in a helpdesk environment would be considered an asset;
  • Basic coding / scripting experience would be considered an asset;
  • A+ Certification and similar would be considered an asset;
  • Minimum of 1 – 2 years relevant work experience in a computer related discipline.
HOURS OF WORK:  Monday – Friday, 8am-4pm and 7am-3pm depending on operational needs. Some overtime may be required. This position is a full time in-office position, not a work-from-home position. 

Selected candidates must  successful completion of a thorough background investigation and pre-employment medical.
