Job Title: Junior Varsity (JV) Girls Head Volleyball Coach AND Frosh/Soph Girls Head Volleyball Coach (Two to three Separate Positions Open)

Classification: Non-exempt, Seasonal Staff

Reports To: Athletic Director, Assistant Athletic Director, and Varsity Head Coach

Dates: August 10, 2026 to October 16, 2026

Salary Range: $32.97 to $46.17 per hour

We are seeking two passionate, energetic, and dedicated leaders to guide our sub-varsity girls' volleyball program for the upcoming fall season. We currently have openings for both a Head Junior Varsity (JV) Coach and a Head Frosh/Soph Coach.

As a sub-varsity head coach, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the foundation of our volleyball program, focusing heavily on fundamental skill development, teamwork, and instilling a lifelong love for the sport. These positions are ideal for individuals who excel at mentoring young student-athletes, fostering a positive and inclusive team culture, and collaborating closely with our Varsity program to build a seamless, competitive pipeline. If you are an organized communicator with competitive volleyball experience and a desire to make a lasting impact on and off the court, we want you on our coaching staff!

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution, and supervision of daily practices, skill development drills, and game-day preparation for your respective (JV or Frosh/Soph) team.

  • Design and implement instructional sessions focused on volleyball fundamentals (serving, passing, setting, hitting, and blocking) and team strategies aligned with the Varsity program's system.

  • Provide positive, constructive, and individualized feedback to players to enhance performance, volleyball IQ, and overall understanding of the game.

  • Be consistently present and actively engaged at all scheduled practices, games, team meetings, and related program events.

  • Coordinate and implement activities designed to build strong team camaraderie, sportsmanship, and positive team dynamics.

  • Manage the inventory, issuance, and collection of your team's equipment and uniforms at the beginning and end of the season.

  • Maintain necessary, clear, and timely communication with the Varsity Head Coach, Athletic Department, student-athletes, and parents.

  • Participate actively in all required athletic department meetings and end-of-season recognition events.

  • Adhere to all policies set forth by the school, league, and the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF).

  • Successfully complete all mandated coaching education and certification requirements (e.g., CPR/First Aid, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, Concussion Protocol, Mandated Reporter, etc.) per CIF and school guidelines.

  • Ride the team bus for away games, providing supervision and mentorship during transit.

  • Education: Undergraduate Degree strongly preferred.

  • Experience: Previous high school, club, or collegiate-level playing or coaching experience in volleyball required.

  • Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of volleyball fundamentals, tactical rotations (e.g., 5-1, 6-2), strategies, and current CIF/NFHS rules.

  • Working Conditions: Work is primarily performed indoors (gymnasium), involving exposure to moderate-to-loud noise levels during practices and matches, and various weather conditions during travel.

  • Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to stand, walk, and be active on one's feet for extended periods (multiple hours) during practices and games.

    • Capability to actively demonstrate volleyball skills and drills, which requires bending, reaching, light jumping, and lifting moderate objects (e.g., ball carts, net equipment, water coolers).

  • Proven ability to foster positive team dynamics and individual player development.

  • Highly organized, reliable, punctual, and capable of independently managing a team practice and game schedule.

  • Possesses a positive, patient, and enthusiastic demeanor suitable for developing younger high school athletes.

  • Demonstrated enjoyment and effectiveness in mentoring high school student-athletes.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Assistant Coach(es) assigned to your respective team
