Role Purpose/Summary

As part of the Test & Validation team, the Test Engineer prepares and performs the environmental test campaigns for the B2 phase of the Phoenix programme. The role ensures that flight and engineering hardware is verified against its environmental requirements through vibrations, thermal-vacuum, shocks, EMC and ESD testing, and delivers reliable test documentation as test plans, procedures, and reports in support of programme milestones.

Role Responsibilities

  • Prepare and lead the environmental test campaigns (vibrations, TVAC, shocks, EMC, ESD) for the Phoenix B2 phase, including schedule, logistics and resources.
  • Book and organise the test facilities, and coordinate with internal teams and external test houses.
  • Set up the test configuration, including mechanical and electrical interfaces, fixturing and instrumentation.
  • Supervise the tests on site, monitor them in real time, and ensure specimen and personnel safety.
  • Analyse and post-process test data to verify results against the success criteria.
  • Write and maintain the full set of test documentation: test plans, test specifications, test procedures, test reports.
  • Manage anomalies and non-conformances raised during the test campaigns, including recording, investigation and follow-up to resolution in coordination with PA/QA team and program management.
  • Support the definition and tailoring of environmental test requirements and applicable standards (e.g. ECSS).
  • Travel as required to conduct test campaigns or visit other Group entities.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

  • Engineering degree (MSc level, 5-year programme) in mechanical, aerospace or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in environmental testing of space or comparable high-reliability hardware.
  • Hands-on experience across vibrations, TVAC, shocks, EMC, radiation and ESD testing.
  • Proficiency in test data acquisition and analysis and in writing test procedures and reports.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and hands-on skills, with a rigorous and safety-conscious approach.
  • Strong team player, able to work autonomously and to manage multiple tasks and projects in parallel.
  • Willingness to travel for test campaigns and inter-entity visits.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Good understanding of the space environment and its constraints on hardware, and knowledge of the applicable standards (ECSS), particularly for environmental testing and verification.
  • Proficiency with relevant software tools: SolidWorks (CAD), TwinCAT (data acquisition and control) and Python (data processing and test automation).
  • Interest in and ability to leverage AI tools to support test data analysis, reporting and engineering productivity.
  • Good command of French, in addition to English.
