About the Role
~1 min readThe Tax Manager is responsible for overseeing the company’s indirect and state income tax compliance, reporting, and planning processes, including sales/use tax, property tax, and other state and local taxes. This role identifies tax risks and opportunities, develops solutions, and works with external advisors to support the organization’s operations.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Manage indirect tax compliance, including sales and use tax and other transaction-based taxes across multiple jurisdictions.
- →Oversee property tax filings, assessments, and related schedules for development and operating projects.
- →Oversee state income tax compliance, including reviewing returns, managing apportionment methodologies, and analyzing state tax positions.
- →Review and prepare responses and supporting documentation for state and local tax agency notices and audits.
- →Monitor changes in indirect tax laws and regulations. Assess their impact on the business and implement process or system updates as needed.
- →Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments within the organization. Provide guidance and strategic advice on indirect tax implications of business transactions, contracts, and new initiatives.
- →Lead the forecasting of indirect tax liabilities, including sales/use tax and property tax, using operational data, historical trends, and business insights to support cash flow planning.
- →Manage relationships with external tax advisors, including overseeing deliverables, reviewing work product, and ensuring alignment with the company’s objectives.
- →Maintain organizational excellence in terms of project timelines and deliverables.

Requirements
~1 min read- Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent years of experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in indirect tax or multi-state tax within public accounting as a tax professional.
- Licensure/Certification: Certified Public Accountant
- Technology: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and an ability to learn company-specific software programs, tools, processes, and machines.
- Skills/Attributes:
- Applies knowledge of indirect and state tax regimes (e.g., sales and use tax, property tax, and income tax) to support compliance and optimize tax positions.
- Interprets complex tax codes and regulatory guidance, providing actionable insights for business transactions, contracts, and operational activities.
- Proactively identifies tax risks and opportunities, recommending solutions aligned with business and compliance goals.
- Articulates tax positions and implications to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, supporting informed decision-making.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage data to support compliance, forecasting, and audit defense.
- High degree of self-motivation with the ability to effectively solve problems with little direction.
