Reports To: Special Projects Manager
Job Purpose:
To successfully contribute to the organization's success by achieving 100% budget and schedule adherence for projects. The Project Coordinator (PCO) supports Project Managers by managing administrative tasks, technical/financial tracking, and project communication to ensure deliverables are completed on time, on budget, and according to contract specifications with high quality and safety.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing the project budget, recording costs, managing POs, and performing progress invoicing as per contract.
- Develop, maintain, and adjust project schedules to meet adherence requirements.
- Manage day-to-day requirements including RFIs, submittals, logs, permits, and thorough project documentation.
- Conduct QA/QC audits and inspections, track re-work costs, and support the development of Project Specific Safety Plans to ensure compliance with Alberta OH&S legislation.
- Assist contractor superintendents with construction planning, perform quantity take-offs, and act as a point of contact for site deliveries.
- Assist in identifying scope creep, pricing change orders, and assessing impacts on cost and schedule.
- Review project information during start-up and generate close-out documentation, including as-builts and final completion certificates.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Minimum high school diploma: project management training or certification is a requirement.
- 5 years of related project management experience/training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in industrial, commercial, and institutional (ICI) projects.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel and Project) and the ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Ability to accurately calculate figures to understand quantities and a thorough understanding of cost summaries and productivity reports.
- Strong and concise verbal and written English communication skills.
- Positive attitude and a demonstrated commitment to team success and operational excellence.
Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:
- Office and field construction site environment. Monday to Thursday 8:30am – 4:30pm, Friday 8:30am – 2:00pm.
- Working hours vary and require a flexible schedule based on assignment needs; evening and weekend work may be required for community engagement or meetings.
- Must follow all safety and environmental standards through each phase of construction.
