The Mobile Diesel Technician will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing CFLS medium/heavy duty trucks, light/heavy duty trailers, and various other company equipment in multiple locations (primary service locations are to be determined by the fleet manager and agreed to by the perspective technician prior to technician onboarding). The primary mission for the mobile diesel technician will be to provide his/her assigned CFLS terminals with safe, federally compliant, dependable, and cost-effective equipment by following preventative and predictive maintenance SOPs.
JOB EXPECTATIONS/DUTIES:
Perform required inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment to maximize the safety, productivity, and life of the unit.
Perform required maintenance services on fleet tractors and trailers including plugging tires, changing light bulbs, investigating problems and completing repairs.
Perform tractor PM services as required by DOT 49 CFR 396.
Perform trailer PM services as required by DOT 49 CFR 396.
Complete written PM inspection forms and procure parts as required.
Complete paper-flow procedures including documenting correct mileage/hours, save and tag all warranty and core parts, document all repairs on work order following parts ordering/billing procedures.
Perform final operational test on vehicles to quality-check all repairs.
Follow safety guidelines and wear prescribed PPE at all times.
Maintain written repair orders to include labor hours, parts used and general comments.
Perform lot checks to verify equipment condition.
Clean and organize work area at the end of each day.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
High School or GED as well as sufficient training or experience to meet requirements stated in DOT 49 CFR 396.25.
College, trade school, or military training degree in diesel mechanics preferred.
Five years hands on experience in a Semi tractor- trailer dealer setting or 10+ years in a fleet setting.
Inspector and brake inspector training certificates or sufficient experience pursuant to 49 CFR 396.25.
Extensive knowledge of air brake system diagnostics, repair, and federal standards.
Experience with medium/heavy duty truck repair in a shop setting, dealership experience, or manufacturer CBT training course certificates required.
Well versed in all preventative, predictive, routine, non-routine and emergency maintenance tasks associated with light, medium, and heavy duty trucks/equipment primarily powered by diesel engines and auxiliary equipment i.e. tanker, box, and pump trailers.
Must be able to work in an unsupervised environment and still meet all goals assigned by the fleet manager.
Clean driving record required.
Must possess or have the ability to acquire a class A CDL within 90 days of hire.
Must provide own hand and power tools required for normal routine repairs up to 1 ½ inch/ 33 mm.
Must have the ability to work as part of a high-performance team or as an individual contributor.
Basic Microsoft Office knowledge.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to travel, willingness to work a flexible schedule and overtime as needed.
Prior experience as a mobile mechanic preferred.

Travel to other terminals is required and estimated at 50%.
