Packaging Line Operator

Summary: The Packaging Line Operator plays a crucial role in the efficient operation of the packaging filling line by ensuring that all equipment is supplied and prepared for production with the necessary materials. This role plays a key part in maximizing productivity and meeting production targets by proactively addressing any issues that may arise during the operation of the packaging filling line. When not refilling components or necessary materials, this individual will assist in general packaging responsibilities and duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Ensures that all required components are in position and readily available for production needs.
- Assists in set up of and clearing/cleaning packaging equipment and ancillary components as necessary to achieve scheduling, safety, and quality goals.
- Responsible for ensuring work practices in the Chemical Hygiene Plan are followed.
- Responsible for performance of operations in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and FDA Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Lead sanitization of packaging equipment and documentation of such.
- Lead good housekeeping within the immediate area of assigned work.
- Champion of safety on the packaging line; attends Safety Team meetings and helps implementation of safety initiatives.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment and machinery to identify any preventative maintenance or repair needs.
- Performs changeover and adjustments to packaging equipment as necessary to achieve scheduling, safety, and quality goals.
- Set up packaging equipment and ancillary components as necessary to achieve scheduling, safety, and quality goals.
- Operates forklift with the highest safety standards in mind. Stacking and unstacking pallets/totes. Bringing pallets/totes to the lines. Assisting with other tasks as assigned by Manager.
- Maintain accurate records of production output, downtime, and inventory levels.
- Enforce safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to increase efficiency and productivity.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in a related field is a plus.
- Proven experience working in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of packaging equipment and machinery preferred.
- Familiarity with quality control processes and procedures preferred.
