System Analyst

Senior Systems Analyst A Investec Sandton is looking for a Senior Systems Analyst with a passion for delivering high‑quality, scalable business and technology solutions. You will be part of a cross‑functional delivery team responsible for the end‑to‑end change lifecycle, from concept and problem definition through to delivery and value realisation. As a Senior Systems Analyst you will be operating at the intersection of business and technology, responsible for translating business needs into robust system designs, integration models, and technical specifications. The role spans the end-to-end systems analysis lifecycle, ensuring solutions are feasible, scalable, and aligned to business value outcomes. In addition to being strong in core systems analysis practices, we are looking for someone who proactively identifies opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen delivery practices, and enhance Investec’s overall business and technology capabilities. Requirements Experience, Skill and Capability • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, engineering, computer science, or a related field is required, with exposure to the finance services industry. • 5+ Years of systems analysis experience delivering technology-enabled change end-to-end (preferably within financial services), including discovery, technical requirements definition, and delivery support. • Strong capability in current/future state analysis, root-cause analysis, and modelling (e.g., systems process maps/BPMN, customer journeys, use cases, and data definitions). • Proven ability to elicit, document, and manage requirements as epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria; maintain traceability and clarity from intent through to delivery and testing. • Confident facilitator of workshops and decision forums; able to align diverse stakeholders, manage ambiguity, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences. A good knowledge of the following tools and processes are required: • Backlog and delivery tooling (Jira/Azure DevOps) including user story writing, refinement, and traceability. • Requirements and documentation practices (e.g., Confluence/SharePoint) including decision logs, RAID logs, and clear sign-off/approval artefacts. • System Design & Analysis: o Define workflows, data models, and integrations o Translate requirements into functional specs and APIs o Align to enterprise architecture standards • Business Engagement: o Partner with stakeholders to refine requirements o Maintain traceability from business intent to implementation • Delivery Support: o Support backlog refinement and delivery o Collaborate with developers and testers • Data & Integration: o Document data flows and integration patterns o Support defect and root cause analysis • Governance & Quality: o Embed risk, audit and control requirements o Maintain audit-ready documentation • Testing and validation practices including defining test scenarios, supporting SIT/UAT, and managing defects and change requests through to closure. • Data analysis using Excel and (where applicable) SQL to validate requirements, reconcile data, and support decision-making. • Understanding of delivery governance, risk and controls (e.g., auditability, access, approvals), and how to embed these into requirements and operational processes.
