Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer Location: Paarl, Western Cape Industry: Specialized Liquid Packaging Systems & Automation About the Role: Join a globally recognized leader in liquid filling and packaging technology. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing high-speed, specialized machinery and full turnkey line concepts from initial concept to manufacturing-ready drawings. Key Responsibilities: · Machine Design: Produce efficient, accurate, and cost-effective 3D CAD machine designs for liquid filling, capping, rinsing, and conveyor systems. · Manufacturing Drawings: Compile detailed assembly and manufacturing drawings in strict accordance with industry and workshop engineering standards. · Documentation & Specifications: Generate accurate component specifications, Bills of Materials (BOMs), production orders, and technical machine manuals. · Change Management: Implement Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) on existing designs and maintain version-controlled revisions of drawings. · Factory Layouts: Create detailed 2D/3D layout drawings of customer manufacturing facilities to ensure optimal packaging line integration. · Technical Support: Provide hands-on technical guidance to the workshop fabrication team during assembly and offer remote/on-site troubleshooting support to field technicians. Requirements Requirements: · Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering (Diploma, BTech, or Degree). · 3+ years of proven experience in 3D CAD machine design (Packaging, Automation, or High-Speed Machinery experience is highly advantageous). · Solid understanding of pneumatics, P&IDs, and sheet metal fabrication/machining processes. · Strong collaborative skills to interface with electrical engineers, project managers, and clients. · Valid passport and willingness to travel occasionally for on-site commissioning support.
