Senior Electrical Design Engineer

The Senior Electrical Design Engineer provides expert-level review and technical advisory for all electrical engineering aspects of the Zambia Solar PV and BESS program, ensuring EPC contractor electrical designs comply with project specifications, international standards, and grid connection requirements.

• →Review and comment on EPC contractor electrical submittals, including single-line diagrams, protection coordination studies, cable schedules, grounding designs, and equipment specifications.
• →Conduct detailed technical review of MV and LV system designs, transformer specifications, switchgear layouts, and inverter station designs.
• →Review BESS system electrical designs, BMS configurations, and grid-forming/following control strategies.
• →Assess grid integration designs, including grid code compliance studies, power flow analyses, short circuit calculations, and harmonic assessments.
• →Review Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) procedures for all electrical equipment.
• →Prepare formal technical review reports and engineering comments for submission to EPC contractors.
• →Provide technical guidance to the onsite Senior Electrical Engineer and respond to RFIs.
• →Support the Engineering Manager in reviewing and approving key electrical deliverables.
• →Contribute to Owner's Engineer technical advisory reports on all electrical matters.
• →Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable IEC, IEEE, and Zambia grid code standards.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum 12 years of electrical design experience in utility-scale power systems.
• Strong background in solar PV and BESS electrical systems design.
• Proficiency in electrical analysis software (ETAP, Dig SILENT, or equivalent).
• Solid knowledge of HV/MV protection, grounding, and earthing design.
• Experience in grid code compliance and interconnection studies is highly advantageous.
• Excellent technical report writing skills.
