Responsibilities
~2 min readUnder general supervision, the Director of Finance and Financial Services, Tseng College oversees financial analysis, budgeting, reporting, student accounting, accounts payable, and fiscal operations. The position provides strategic financial guidance, develops financial models, ensures regulatory compliance, and supports College-wide planning and decision-making.
- →Manages financial analysis and reporting, student accounting, accounts payable, and fixed assets for the College.
- →Translates complex financial data and analysis into clear and actionable reports and presentations for College leadership, unit leads, academic partners, and campus stakeholders.
- →Develops the complex financial models for the strategic management of the College.
- →Provides direct supervision to the College’s finance and financial services unit staff.
- →Represents the College within and outside the university, maintaining and building positive and productive working relationships.

Requirements
~1 min read- Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a job-related field.
- Equivalent to five years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, finance, and budget management in a complex organization; with two of the five years in a managerial role preferred.
- Experience in project or program management is required.
- Master’s degree from an accredited university strongly preferred. Preference will be given to those with degrees in finance and/or accounting.
- Demonstrated Experience serving in a senior financial management role with responsibility for budgeting, budget management, financial accounting and reporting, and oversight of a finance team.
- Preference will be given to those with longer and higher-level experience.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience working in a self-support (private college/university, public university, industry, or the like) context in which responsibilities for revenue and expenditure were part of the financial management duties. Preference will be given to those with financial management experience in higher education or public education.
- The CPA credential is a plus.
- Excellent analytical and financial modeling skills are required. Ability and experience in leading, developing, and monitoring the life cycle budget planning and expense control are crucial. Ability to design and develop large data gathering methods for analysis. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Thorough knowledge of general practices, programs, and/or administrative specialty, and operational and fiscal analysis and techniques. Advanced knowledge of policies, procedures, and outside regulations pertaining to the applicable program and/or administrative specialty.
- Ability and specialized skills to: Take initiative and independently plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved; expertise in investigating and analyzing problems with a broad administrative impact and implications; ability to train others and provide lead work direction. Interpret and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures to develop conclusions and make recommendations; perform basic research and statistical analysis; communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrates ability to build and maintain a wide range of professional working relationships that lead to effective collaborative problem-solving and administrative systems improvement. The ability to serve as a senior representative for the employee organization with clients, partners, and colleagues.
- This is a senior leadership role in CSUN’s Tseng College that is expected to be a part of the College’s senior management (MPP) group, developing the College’s academic, administrative, financial, and positioning strategies. Demonstrates experience working as a senior organization leader, making significant positive contributions to the success of the employer’s work on many fronts.
- Ability to give oral presentations to groups and to communicate effectively in one-on-one conversations about complex, personal issues.
- Ability to effectively set up and manage a project with a variety of stakeholders. Ability to organize multiple tasks and to coordinate their on-time delivery. Ability to identify and clarify.
