Reporting to the CPA Operations Manager, the Performing Arts Technician is primarily responsible for providing varied technical support to the instructional and production programs in the College of Humanities, Social Sciences and the Arts (College) and at the University. The Performing Arts Technician provides production support to students and faculty; supports complex projects, including planning, organizing and construction/implementation for productions; organizes and maintains materials, equipment and facilities for the College; and provides lead work direction to student and other staff members.
Requirements
~1 min readThis position requires three to four years of experience working for a theater, repertory or stock company engaged in the applicable production specialty such as costuming, scenery construction, lighting and special effects, and music/audio production. This background normally would be achieved through professional training or applicable college coursework and practical experience. A Bachelor’s degree in fine arts, performing arts, music, theatre or a related field is preferred. Intermediate proficiency with computers, Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) required. Knowledge of Photoshop and PeopleSoft preferred. The incumbent must successfully complete a pre-placement exam. Bilingual fluency is desired but not required, English/Spanish preferred.

What We Offer
~1 min readThis is a full time, non-exempt position, which will lead toward permanent status following the successful completion of a probationary period. The CSU Classification Step Range for this position is $4,130 - $6,017 per month (step 1 - step 20). Step placement will be determined based on relevant qualifications and professional experience. Step placement upon appointment is not expected to exceed Step 11 ($5,034).
This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 15 paid holidays are offered each year. Sonoma State University is also a Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF) Employer.
