The salary range for this classification is $3,480 - $5,069 per month.

  • This is a full-time (equivalent to 40 hours per week), probationary, non-exempt position.

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Under general supervision, the Shipping & Receiving Assistant performs work involving the purchase, receipt, checking, storage, inventory, issue, and delivery of materials, equipment, and supplies; uses powered or non-powered materials handling equipment and delivery trucks; and prepares and/or files forms associated with receipt, purchasing, and delivery of goods. Confirms and documents that service orders are completed. This role emphasizes managing a high-pressure, high-volume of material and service orders, with a focus on meticulous documentation, superior customer service, and strong technical skills.

 

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of methods, practices, and equipment used in purchasing, receiving, storing, packing, and shipping materials and supplies.
  • General knowledge of methods of taking inventories and maintaining inventory records
  • Match names and numbers quickly and accurately.
  • Keep records and make reports.
  • Read and write at a level appropriate to the position.
  • Make arithmetic computations.
  • Operate powered materials handling equipment.
  • Apply safe methods of moving heavy supplies and equipment.
  • Perform manual labor.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships and promote a positive, service-oriented, collegial work environment with a variety of individuals.
  • Effectively organize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work with a department CMMS database.

 

Responsibilities

  • One year of experience assisting in the receipt, storage, or issuance of materials from a centralized stockroom or warehouse, including some experience in the operation of forklift, trucks or similar power-operated materials handling equipment.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.

The duties of this position will include participation in decisions that may have a material financial benefit to the incumbent. Therefore, the selected candidate will be required to file Conflict of Interest Form 700: Statement of Economic Interest when they first occupy the position, and on an annual basis, complete ethics training within 6 months of appointment, and attend this training every other year thereafter.
