Are you an experienced leader with a passion for water infrastructure, stakeholder engagement and delivering public value?

The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water is seeking a highly capable Regional Manager to lead the advisory and support functions for Local Water Utilities across regional NSW. In this pivotal role, you will help ensure communities have access to safe, secure, affordable and sustainable water and sewerage services while contributing to the long-term resilience of regional water infrastructure.

Working within Water Operations, you will lead a multidisciplinary team, provide strategic and technical advice, oversee drought monitoring activities, support significant government funding programs, and represent the department on regional and inter-agency forums.

Responsibilities will be split geographically, with one Regional Manager overseeing the north of the state and the other overseeing the south

About the Role

As Regional Manager, you will:

  • Lead and develop a specialist team supporting regional water and sewerage outcomes.
  • Build strong partnerships with Local Water Utilities, government agencies and industry stakeholders.
  • Provide strategic and technical advice on infrastructure planning, capital works and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee drought monitoring for regional town water supplies and contribute to government advice on risks and response strategies.
  • Support the delivery and technical review of government-funded water infrastructure projects.
  • Represent DCCEEW in regional, state and industry forums to influence best-practice outcomes for water service delivery across NSW.

You are a collaborative and strategic leader with demonstrated experience managing complex stakeholder relationships and navigating technical, operational and policy challenges.

You will bring:

  • Strong leadership experience, including the ability to coach, mentor and develop high-performing teams.
  • Experience working with water, infrastructure, utilities, engineering, environmental management or related sectors.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement, negotiation and relationship management skills.
  • Sound project management capabilities and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to provide advice on complex or sensitive issues.
  • A commitment to public sector values, integrity and customer-focused service delivery.
