In the Aboriginal Initiatives team, Senior Project Officer roles will assist the EPA to effectively engage with Aboriginal communities and improve its understanding of Aboriginal cultural values to strengthen its regulatory role to protect the environment. You will be part of a team and an agency that is committed to increasing the employment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff across the EPA.
You will play a key role in developing and delivering a range of important projects to address strategic priorities to achieve and maintain a healthy environment, healthy community. You will support the EPA to uphold its Statement of Commitment to Aboriginal Peoples by working collaboratively with colleagues in the EPA, broader cluster, Aboriginal organisations and communities and government and non-government stakeholders.

You will be knowledgeable and have extensive experience in understanding Aboriginal cultural values and heritage and working with Aboriginal people. You will also be able to provide strategic and innovative solutions to improve inclusion of Aboriginal perspectives and peoples for the EPA’s ability to regulate environmental matters and achieve environment protection more generally across NSW. Proven experience in end-to-end project management, effective engagement and the ability to network across various areas of government.
You have a passion and conviction to achieve outcomes for the environment and Aboriginal people. You do not need to be an expert in environmental matters and regulation but will be curious to learn more about what the NSW EPA does to protect human health and the environment. You are a team player always ready to roll their sleeves up and jump in when a job needs to be done, no matter how big or small.
