About the Role

~1 min read

National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) has a career opportunity for a Team Leader Conservation to work as part of the team and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal heritage.  The Team Leader Conservation will lead a team of committed pest and weed management, threatened species and data specialists to prioritise, plan and report on conservation programs and priorities across the branch.  The team works closely with area staff, contractors and external stakeholders to identify the natural and cultural values of the reserve and deliver targeted threat mitigation, monitoring, and conservation programs.  The position provides input into departmental policy and strategy development and broader conservation initiatives such as Assets of Intergenerational Significance.  This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the conservation of NSW's natural and cultural heritage while leading a dedicated team of specialists.

You are a confident and collaborative leader with strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills. You excel at building positive, high-performing teams and foster a culture of professionalism, optimism and accountability.  You bring experience interpreting complex environmental issues and providing clear, practical advice to a range of audiences. Your strategic mindset enables you to contribute to conservation planning and identify opportunities to deliver strong environmental outcomes aligned with organisational priorities.  Highly organised and adaptable, you are comfortable managing competing priorities and responding to emerging challenges. You also have strong project management capabilities, with experience managing budgets, coordinating contractors and delivering quality outcomes within established frameworks and standards.
