A leading banking institution is seeking an experienced Senior Agile Project Manager to join its dynamic team in Sandton. This role is ideal for a seasoned Project Manager with strong Agile delivery expertise and proven experience managing complex projects within the banking environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering medium-sized projects from initiation through to completion, ensuring delivery within agreed scope, budget, timelines, and governance standards. The role requires strong stakeholder management skills, Agile leadership capabilities, and the ability to drive successful business and technology change initiatives.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- Lead and deliver medium-sized projects in accordance with agreed scope, budget, quality, and timelines.
- Drive the successful implementation of Agile methodologies across software development projects.
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies and ensure adherence to Agile principles and best practices.
- Provide mentorship, coaching, and guidance to project teams and junior project managers.
- Work closely with Product Managers and delivery teams to translate epics, features, and user stories into actionable delivery plans.
- Engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholder groups across business and technology functions.
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships through regular communication, reporting, and feedback.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
- Facilitate decision-making and resolution of project-related issues and risks.
- Develop and manage project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations.
- Ensure accurate project cost estimations based on business requirements and project scope.
- Manage project scope, dependencies, risks, issues, and change requests.
- Track and report on project progress using agreed governance frameworks and quality metrics.
- Ensure project benefits are clearly defined, tracked, and realised.
- Conduct business impact assessments across processes, systems, and people.
- Support and drive organisational change initiatives associated with project delivery.
- Ensure client and business requirements are accurately documented, approved, and delivered.
- Lead project retrospectives, lessons learned sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure successful project closure and post-implementation reviews.
Requirements
~1 min read- Degree or Diploma in Project Management, Business Management, Information Technology, or related field.
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), or equivalent Agile certification.
- Additional Project Management certifications will be advantageous.
- 5–8 years' experience within a project delivery environment.
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a Project Manager delivering technology and business projects.
- Proven experience managing Agile software development projects.
- Essential banking or financial services industry experience.
- Strong experience managing project budgets, governance, stakeholder engagement, and delivery teams.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams in complex enterprise environments.
