The Route Service Supervisor (RSS) is a traveling ambassador in a client-facing role, through the delivery of merchandise along a specific defined route. Responsibilities include direct oversight of a team of Route Service Representatives (RSRs), this oversight includes performance management, onboarding and training of new hires, and through their interactions set the tone and culture of the Service Department. The Service Supervisor will also fill in when needed to service our valued customers by delivering required merchandise in a prompt and accurate fashion and with an up-beat and sincerely helpful demeanor.
Drive commercial vehicle to and from customer stops along a planned route delivery sequence. Deliver and stock our products in a safe, clean, timely, and professional manner.
Responsible for direct oversight and management of assigned Route Service Representatives. This includes performance management, onboarding and training of newly hired employees.
Drive and care for assigned vehicle in a responsible, professional, and DOT compliant manner and report necessary repairs and maintenance to management.
Participates in the loading and unloading of Dempsey vehicle(s) both at the company site as well as at customer locations using proper safety techniques.
Complete daily vehicle inspection reports (pre/post, DVIR), clean and fuel vehicles/equipment as necessary.
Builds and maintains relationships with customers so as to know their business well enough to anticipate demand changes to readily provide a Dempsey solution.
Maintains proper inventory levels by conducting soil/inventory previews and accounting for current inventory levels when making deliveries at customer locations.
Provides coverage on routes when needed and verifies all routes have coverage to guarantee on-time delivery of products.
Completes supervisor audits and Route Service Representative evaluations.
Installs new accounts and completes un-installs of customers.
Oversees change management for the route service function.
Assist RSRs with acquiring renewals.
Oversees route efficiencies and helps to manage the planned routes.
Administers RSR development both new hire and current employees.
Enters all required information into Tracs to ensure inventory levels are accurate.
Transports equipment and/or products along planned route.
Manages customer accounts by entering service notes and memos, completing limited adjustments with approval, etc.
Prospects potential leads.
Identifies, samples, and upsells additional products that will help the customer.
Maintains garment accounts by completing size changes, returns, alterations, repairs, etc.
Drives potential candidates for ride alongs and assists in completing feedback forms as needed.
Organizes customer products along route to efficiently deliver products in a timely manner.
Assist with fleet maintenance.
Cover for the Territory Service Manager when needed and serves as their team member to achieve required scorecard benchmarks.
Perform all job duties in a safe manner by adhering to all driving regulations, road signs, and company safety policies and procedures.
High School Diploma or GED required
Associate degree or bachelor's degree preferred
Previous supervisory experience required
1-3 years Previous experience as a driver and/or service representative required
