Discord is looking for an experienced and passionate Senior Data Engineer, Analytics to join our data team! You will be owning the transformation and semantic layer that turns data into clean, tested, well-documented tables and dashboards that data scientists, product managers, and business stakeholders can trust and self-serve from. You'll define and operationalize the metrics that inform how we identify opportunities, measure success, and make decisions. We're hiring for multiple verticals on our Data Engineering team, including Engagement and Performance.

Responsibilities

→4+ years of experience in analytics or data engineering with a strong focus on building curated, consumer-facing datasets
→4+ years of experience in designing, developing, and maintaining robust data models from structured and unstructured sources
→4+ years of experience writing accurate and effective code in SQL
→Experience with designing data model to power a variety of use cases, including experimentation
→Fluency in Python or another programming language, with solid fundamentals in version control and CI/CD practices
→Experience building and owning executive-level dashboards and reports using BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, or similar)
→Strong business acumen, you will partner with data scientists and product managers to translate ambiguous business questions into concrete metric definitions and data models
→Excellent communication, comfortable being the connective tissue between technical and business teams
→Last but not least, desire to work with amazing, passionate people who care deeply about solving challenging problems to improve Discord

Nice to Have

Passion for Discord or online communities
Experience building or contributing to a semantic layer or metrics store
Experience with modern analytics and data engineering tools and workflows (dbt, BigQuery, or similar)
Experience defining and governing metric standards across a data organization
Experience working on analytics for core features (i.e. messaging, video/voice call etc) in communication app.
Experience working on analytics for performance and reliability of communication app
Background in analytics for core communication features (messaging, video/voice) or platform reliability and performance.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $196,000 to $220,500 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include equity, or benefits.
