About Global Risk, Security & Resilience
The Global Risk, Safety and Resilience (GRSR) team manages the company’s operational risks and advises the business on other commercial, strategic or reputational challenges. With functions covering audits & investigations, business resilience (incident & crisis management, business continuity), digital risk, event security, global operations & insights, health, safety & wellbeing, newsroom safety, executive protection and workplace security. The department covers a diverse technical portfolio leveraged to ensure risks are reasonably managed, security threats addressed and disruptions limited in support of Dow Jones’ strategic goals.
About the Role
We are seeking an adaptable and skilled Health, Safety & Wellbeing Lead based in Barcelona to serve as the certified technical practitioner (Técnico de PRL) for our local operations in Spain, while supporting our broader global portfolio health and safety initiatives focusing primarily on EMEA, with ad-hoc support for other global locations.
As part of a dynamic, matrixed environment where our Health, Safety & Wellbeing function is evolving and expanding, you will enhance and standardize localized policies, align global Dow Jones frameworks with local Spanish legal requirements, manage external vendor relationships, and partner closely with HR and Benefits to shape a safe, resilient workplace culture.

You Will
Health & Safety Management (Framework Enhancement & Compliance)
Act as the internal certified technical contact (Técnico de PRL) for Spain, ensuring alignment with Spanish labor laws (Law 31/1995) and adapting global Dow Jones standards into local operational policies.
Establish, review, and conduct workplace risk assessments, inspections, ergonomic evaluations, and safety audits across local facilities.
Maintain occupational health and safety documentation, ensuring full audit-readiness and liaising with local labor authorities when required.
Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses, performing root-cause analyses and recommending measures to prevent recurrence.
Organize and deliver safety drills, emergency response plans, and required safety training for local staff.
Coordinate with local worker representatives (Delegados de Prevención) or Safety Committees as required by law.
Vendor & Consultant Management
Oversee contracts, performance, and service deliverables with External Prevention Services (Servicios de Prevención Ajenos - SPA) for mandatory Health Surveillance (Vigilancia de la Salud) and specialized technical evaluations.
Manage relationships with external occupational health consultants, medical service providers, and regional safety vendors across international jurisdictions.
Global & Regional Portfolio Support
Support the rollout and monitoring of health and safety standards across EMEA, providing ad-hoc technical support to other global locations
Track, analyze, and maintain accurate records of H&S incidents, risk evaluations, and vendor deliverables.
Prepare metric reports and trend analyses for senior management to drive continuous improvement in workplace safety.
HR & Benefits Collaboration (Wellbeing)
Partner closely with the People (HR) and Benefits teams to align health and safety objectives with corporate health and wellbeing initiatives, medical accommodations, and absenteeism management.
Support the rollout of health awareness workshops, stress management resources, and e-learning materials in coordination with HR and global benefits programs.
You have:
Official Spanish Qualification: Certified Técnico Superior en Prevención de Riesgos Laborales (or official Master’s degree in PRL recognized in Spain) covering Safety, Industrial Hygiene, and Ergonomics/Psychosociology.
Experience: Practical experience implementing Spanish H&S regulations (Law 31/1995) and managing day-to-day operations with External Prevention Services (SPA) in a corporate or multi-site environment.
Consultant & Vendor Oversight: Hands-on experience working directly with external H&S suppliers, occupational health providers, and technical vendors.
Data & Reporting: Ability to analyze H&S metrics, maintain legal documentation, and generate reports for management.
Language Skills: Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English (both written and spoken) is essential.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Proven ability to work collaboratively alongside HR, Benefits, and Facilities teams.
Preferred:
Psychosocial & Trauma Experience: Experience or strong interest in managing psychosocial risks and mental health resilience, ideally supporting teams exposed to high-stress, crisis, or traumatic environments (e.g., news/media, emergency services, military, or crisis response).
Global Reach: Experience supporting multi-country H&S frameworks outside of Spain.
Program Execution: Practical experience scaling or refining internal health and safety workflows in a corporate setting.

Base Pay Range: €35,000 - €45,000
