We're looking for a pragmatic, senior engineer with significant experience building Ruby on Rails applications. In this Engineering Manager role, you’ll maintain an 80/20 split—spending the bulk of your time as a high-impact individual contributor while taking on the responsibility of a people manager; you’ll have direct reports and will be responsible for their professional growth, performance, and support.

This role can be filled in our San Francisco office OR remotely in North America, Central or South America.
As an Engineering Manager at Doximity you will be expected to roll-up your sleeves and make substantial individual technical contributions for 70-80% of your time. As you will lead a team of 3-5 software engineers, the rest of your time will be focused on people management.
- You will play a liaison role alongside Engineering, Product, and Data teams.
- You will contribute to the technical direction of software products.
- You will aid in planning, retrospectives, and devise effective delegation strategies for you and your team.
- You will review code, write technical proposals, and help your team grow by recruiting, training, and aiding in career progression plans.
- You will strive to keep the team pragmatic, shipping, and focused on adding business value while maintaining a cohesive software stack.
We believe experienced and passionate, hands-on software engineers make for great Engineering Managers.
- You are a software engineer first and foremost; excited to roll up your sleeves and help with hands-on engineering problems.
- You enjoy leading projects and teams including planning the iterative delivery of high-quality solutions.
- You have a deep understanding of modern programming disciplines using languages such as Ruby and TypeScript.
- Experience with technologies like GraphQL, WebRTC, VOIP, observability tools, and AI-assisted software development is a plus.
- You have a passion for software architecture and systems design; always looking for opportunities to make high-quality contributions to modern, production web applications.
- You default to concise and effective written and verbal communication.
- You are passionate about helping others improve and grow their career.
- Your leadership style is servant to the team and starts with empathy; you trust your team to make the right decision and empower them to execute.
- You're good at giving clear, constructive feedback and helping engineers grow.
What We Offer
~1 min readThe US total compensation range for this full-time position is $177,000 - $238,000 (inclusive of salary + equity). Our ranges are determined by role and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the approximate total target compensation for the position across the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors including relevant skills, experience, and education/training. Please note that the compensation listed does not include benefits.
