Our Mission:
Driving technology always feels old. Not by a little bit. We believe vehicles can be a thousand times smarter, safer, and more connected to the world around us, and our mission is to see it happen. In 2019, we joined forces with Honda as their first startup acquisition, and now we’re expanding our vision into building the future of electric vehicles (BEV) for millions of people around the world.

Why Drivemode:
Join Drivemode for an exciting startup environment and a vibrant culture that combines impactful work, competitive compensation, and excellent benefits. By becoming a part of our team, you'll contribute to a crucial mission that revolutionizes the way people engage with vehicles, addressing both business needs and the world's environmental challenges. This presents an exceptional opportunity to be at the forefront of innovation and drive Honda's success in the EV market.

About the Role:
We are looking for a passionate and detail-oriented Software QA Engineer to join our growing team. This role focuses on ensuring the highest quality for our mobile applications, which are a core part of our connected vehicle ecosystem. As a QA Engineer, you’ll play a key role in validating app functionality, performance, stability, and usability—both manually and through automation. Your work will ensure the competitive advantage of Drivemode and Honda products by researching, designing, and implementing new solutions while optimizing existing ones.
  • Design, develop, and execute manual test cases for mobile applications (Android and iOS)
  • Collaborate with developers, peer QA engineers, and designers to understand requirements and ensure complete test coverage.
  • Maintain and expand our test automation framework built with Node.js and WebdriverIO.
  • Debug complex issues involving mobile apps, Bluetooth connectivity, and navigation features.
  • Perform regression, exploratory, and acceptance testing for each release cycle.
  • Contribute to continuous quality improvements by identifying testing bottlenecks and process gaps.
  • Provide clear and concise bug reports with reproducible steps and relevant logs/screenshots.
  • 5+ years of experience in Manual Testing of mobile applications
  • Solid understanding of Mobile QA methodologies on both Android and iOS, tools, and best practices.
  • Experience with test automation using one or more of these languages: TypeScript, JavaScript, Java, or Python.
  • Familiarity with test automation tools and frameworks like WebDriverIO, Appium, or similar.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, especially with mobile devices and environments.
  • Hands-on experience testing Bluetooth interactions and navigation functionality
  • Familiarity with test management and bug tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, TestRail, Notion, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Understanding of Page Object Models and how to build reusable test components
  • Exposure to CI/CD processes (e.g., GitHub Actions) and incorporating tests into pipelines.
  • Basic knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and microservices architecture
  • Awareness of system design fundamentals — understands why and where different testing layers (unit, integration, E2E) fit in.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, iterative, and collaborative environments
  • Excellent Communication in English and Japanese.
  • Exposure to performance or stress testing of mobile apps.
  • Familiarity with gRPC or API testing tools such as Postman.
  • Experience with simulators/emulators and managing real device test labs.
  • ISTQB or similar QA certifications (optional but appreciated)
  • Motorbike license in Japan.
