We are looking for an Engineering Manager, Servicing & Collections to lead a team responsible for the systems that power borrower repayment, payments, delinquency management, and collections at Earnest.
This is a high-impact role at the core of Earnest’s business. You will partner closely with Product, Risk, Operations, and Compliance to build scalable, reliable, and compliant systems that improve repayment performance, reduce delinquency, and deliver a high-quality, self-service customer experience.
You will play a critical role in transforming servicing into a strategic advantage for Earnest by improving operational efficiency, enabling smarter collections strategies, and creating systems that build long-term customer trust.
- Lead a team building the systems that power repayment, payments, and collections--directly impacting borrower experience and business performance.
- Own end-to-end delivery of high-impact initiatives, improving repayment rates, reducing delinquency, and driving operational efficiency.
- Evolve the servicing platform alongside senior engineers, simplifying architecture and scaling toward modular, reliable, and observable systems.
- Partner closely with Product, Risk, Operations, and Compliance to build smarter collections capabilities and high-quality self-service experiences.
- Ensure reliability of mission-critical systems, with a focus on uptime, data integrity, and incident readiness.
- Leverage AI to accelerate engineering and product velocity, while applying strong judgment in regulated environments.
- Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar, staying close to the code and unblocking teams when it matters most.
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years leading teams.
- Strong full-stack foundation with the ability to dive into code, debug, and guide architectural decisions.
- Experience building or operating high-stakes systems (e.g., payments, servicing, billing) with a focus on reliability and data integrity.
- Proven track record of scaling systems and teams in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
- Clear communicator who can align technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Passion for mentoring and developing engineers
- Hands-on experience applying AI to improve workflows or operational efficiency.
- This role will be based in the US.

- Every Second Counts: Speed is our competitive advantage. Our customers need better solutions, and the faster we execute, the greater our chance of success.
- Choose To Do Hard Things: We win by tackling the hard things that others avoid, fueled by grit and resilience.
- Pursue Excellence: Great companies, teams, and individuals never settle and are proud of the work that they do. What’s good enough today won’t be good enough tomorrow. Excellence isn’t a destination; it’s a mindset of continuous improvement.
