Architectural Modeling & Visualization: Author and maintain comprehensive Architecture Overview
Everforth ECS is seeking a Senior Systems Architect to work in our Ft Meade, MD office.
The Senior Systems Architect will lead architectural design, technical documentation, and visual modeling for complex enterprise systems operating within a Combined Information Environment (CIE) and Mission Partner Environment (MPE). In this role, you will be the primary visual communicator and system designer responsible for translating mission partner capabilities, data exchanges, and cross-boundary access requirements into rigorous, actionable architectural artifacts. You will interface directly with Five Eyes (FVEY) mission partners, systems engineering teams, network administrators, and accreditation bodies to capture infrastructure baselines, container orchestration pipelines, and desktop virtualization topologies using Microsoft Visio and Cameo Systems Modeler (SysML/UAF).
Responsibilities
~3 min read- →Architectural Modeling & Visualization: Author and maintain comprehensive Architecture Overviews, System Interface Descriptions, Network Boundary Topologies, and Data Flow Diagrams using Cameo Systems Modeler (utilizing SysML, UAF, or DoDAF viewpoints) and Microsoft Visio.
- →Virtualization & Compute Design: Document, evaluate, and optimize enterprise virtual infrastructure hosted on VMware / Hyper-V, detailing physical-to-virtual mappings, datastore allocations, cluster high-availability, and cross-boundary segmentation.
- →Container Architecture Integration: Architect and document integration pathways between core virtual machines and Kubernetes (K8s / Tanzu / OpenShift) environments, mapping pod networking (CNI), ingress/egress controllers, persistent volumes, and containerized microservice touchpoints to traditional backend VMs.
- →Server & Endpoint Infrastructure: Maintain end-to-end architecture baselines across diverse Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) server platforms, Windows infrastructure, and enterprise Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) (e.g., VMware Horizon, Citrix) delivering multi-domain access to local and remote mission operators.
- →Coalition & CIE/MPE Engineering: Drive technical interoperability architectures tailored to FVEY coalition requirements; define and model boundary protection controls, cross-domain solutions (CDS), identity federation, and mission network partitioning.
- →Technical Standards & Accreditation Support: Translate system baselines into engineering documentation required for Risk Management Framework (RMF) Authority to Operate (ATO) packages, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs).
- →Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Release Train Engineers, Product Owners, Security Engineers (ISSM/ISSO), and network operations personnel within an Agile framework to synchronize architectural roadmaps with active sprint and PI execution cycles.
- →Other duties, as assigned.
Salary range: 170,000-200,000
- →U.S. Citizen.
- →Active DoD Secret security clearance.
- →Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of progressive systems engineering, enterprise architecture, or infrastructure design experience (Mid to Senior level). Alternatively, a Master's degree with 8+ years of progressive experience.
- →Ability to work full-time onsite at DISA HQ in Fort Meade, MD.
- →Modeling Proficiency: Advanced mastery of Microsoft Visio and/or Cameo Systems Modeler (Cameo Enterprise Architecture / MagicDraw), with practical application of DoDAF, SysML, or UAF frameworks.
- →Virtualization & Infrastructure: Strong technical foundation in enterprise VM technologies (VMware vSphere/ESXi, vCenter, SAN/NAS shared storage) and underlying compute/hyperconverged platforms.
- →Linux Systems: In-depth working knowledge of Linux/RHEL environments, including kernel-level networking, storage volume management (LVM), security policies, and headless service architectures.
- →End-User Computing: Experience architecting or documenting enterprise VDI deployments supporting multi-tenancy, secure enclave switching, and zero/thin-client endpoints.
- →Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, with a proven ability to weigh the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and identify the most appropriate solution.
