Responsibilities

~1 min read

As an Agile Coach/ Scrum Master, you will be a key driver in enabling our cross‑functional teams to deliver complex deep‑tech solutions in a predictable, sustainable way. You will help teams turn uncertainty into realistic plans and reliable commitments, while aligning their work with our overarching milestone‑driven roadmap and business goals. Depending on your level of experience, you will work on one or more of the following tasks:

  • Coach and support all development teams (optics, mechanics, electronics, software, etc.) in using Scrum/Kanban effectively while aligning to overarching milestone plans

  • Facilitate and standardize agile events across teams (planning, refinement, reviews, retrospectives, daily stand‑ups) with a strong focus on capacity, dependencies, and realistic commitments

  • Establish common estimation practices and units (e.g., story points, t‑shirt sizes) and guide teams to improve estimation accuracy and forecastability over time

  • Work with the project managers to map team sprint plans and capacities into a multi‑project resource and milestone matrix, highlighting risks and bottlenecks early

  • Remove impediments, improve cross‑team collaboration, and support integration between hardware and software streams

  • Strong experience as Scrum Master or Agile Coach for multiple teams, ideally in engineering or hardware‑software R&D environments

  • Deep understanding of Scrum, Kanban, and hybrid/Agile‑Waterfall approaches, and the ability to adapt practices pragmatically to a milestone‑driven environment

  • Proven expertise in team‑level estimation, capacity planning, and turning these into meaningful forecasts and metrics (burn‑down, throughput, velocity) for management

  • Solid grasp of development workflows in non‑software disciplines (mechanics, electronics, optics) and their constraints, or at least experience working with such domains

  • Excellent facilitation and coaching skills for diverse seniority levels, plus strong communication to translate team data into portfolio‑level insights

  • A systems thinker who enjoys connecting long‑term roadmaps and classic milestones with short iterative cycles and empirical data from the teams

  •  Pragmatic mindset: focus on reliability of planning and learning over “textbook” agile purity; comfortable with experimentation and incremental process change

  • High empathy and coaching attitude, able to work with scientists, engineers, and managers, creating psychological safety while still challenging teams to improve

  • Curiosity for deep‑tech topics and enthusiasm for helping highly specialized teams become more predictable without killing innovation

  • Competitive salary: We value our team members and therefore provide remunerations that reflect this, additionally rewarding achievements.

  • Flexible working hours: We offer personal freedom through a variety of flexible work schedules.

  • Team spirit: In our international and diverse team, and with our regular team events, having fun at work is simply part of the game.

  • Further development: We want to grow together and so we offer our team members’ needs-based, individualized further training as well as plenty of room for personal development.

  • Wellness Package: We offer health-promoting benefits such as fitness programs like UrbanSportsClub to support your well-being.

  • Moving Benefits: A warm welcome! We are happy to support employees who move for us with a bonus.

  • At the forefront: Work at the forefront of technology, where academic research meets commercial applications.

  • Modern workplace: We have a high-quality infrastructure with laboratory space, offices, and meeting rooms.
