  • Reporting to the Senior Lead, Environment, the Lead, Environment Air is responsible for executing environmental programs that support compliance in the areas of air quality at the operational level. This role also supports the Asset Environment and Regional Sustainable Development teams in permitting, compliance improvement initiatives, and regional air quality.  

    To be successful, we are seeking someone with a balanced combination of operational experience and applied technical expertise in air quality, dust mitigation, and regulatory processes. The ideal candidate can adapt quickly in a dynamic work environment, and demonstrates an aptitude for innovative, solutions-based critical thinking. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with the ability to build and maintain relationships, are essential for this role.

    Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
    Lead the Asset operational air program
    Lead engagement and manage relationships with government agencies, indigenous groups, and other local communities of interest
    Lead document control practices and support training and competency development
    Provide technical direction and field support for current and emerging environmental issues
    Collaborate with, and develop and maintain working relationships with, Asset and Regional teams, and external agencies
    Understand applicable commitments, permits, acts, regulations, and associated requirements to inform management decisions and activities
    Prepare and submit all required data and reports to meet regulatory and other commitments, including presenting technical information to diverse audiences
    Manage and support compliance projects
    Engineering or Science degree or diploma in an environmental related field
    Minimum five years’ experience providing technical direction and influencing operational environmental related risk management, including challenges associated with resource management
    Strong technical knowledge of federal and provincial compliance practices and regulations related to air quality
    Technical understanding of air monitoring systems and experience with risk evaluations
    Demonstrated project management and supervisory experience, with a proven track record managing multiple environmental projects and budgets
    Proficiency in environmental data management, analysis, reporting, and the use of environmental databases
    Professional designation meeting the BC provincial requirements for a qualified professional for applicable programs is considered an asset
