As a Senior Firmware Over The Air (FOTA) Engineer in the Cloud team, you’ll be working with some of the industry’s brightest minds to develop our data solution. The main areas of focus will include data ingestion, ML pipelines, log analytics, visualization, predictive analysis, tools etc. You will design, develop and enhance data applications from prototype to production - including integration and processing of large real-time vehicle data.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and operate FOTA microservices (campaigns, targeting, packaging, rollout/rollback) using Java/Spring Boot on Kubernetes.
- Implement secure delivery paths and APIs (gRPC/protobuf and REST) over MQTT/HTTP2; support chunking, resume, bandwidth control, and CDN/S3 storage.
- Model data across relational stores; integrate queues/streams (Kafka or MQTT) and cache layers (Redis).
- Instrument services for observability (metrics, tracing, logs) with clear SLOs; drive reliability via canary/phased rollouts and feature flags.
- Collaborate with firmware/vehicle, mobile, and portal teams; write design docs and lead code reviews and mentoring.
- Automate with CI/CD (Jenkins/Maven/Gradle), comprehensive testing, and runbooks.
- Develop multi-region services, tests, and documentation.
- Evolve system design and architecture to keep up with product's growth and adoption
Basic Qualifications:
- MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- 7+ years in backend or distributed systems; 3+ years building cloud microservices at scale.
- Strong Java/Spring Boot; solid CS fundamentals in concurrency, networking, and fault tolerance.
- Hands-on with containers and cloud (Docker, Kubernetes; AWS/GCP).
- API design with gRPC/protobuf and REST; experience with message brokers.
- Data expertise with SQL and NoSQL; familiarity with Cassandra data modeling.
- Security foundations: TLS, codesigning/PKI.
- Proven ownership of production services, on call, and incident response
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in productionizing platforms and applications.
- Experience with graph databases, timeseries, NoSQL etc.
- Experience with predictive analysis or recommendation systems.
- Experience in building CI/CD framework for the data teams
- Experience with Experience in production support and troubleshooting
Preferred Qualifications:
- Automotive experience: ISO 21434/26262, UDS/CAN, A/B.
- File/package delivery at scale: multipart/resumable uploads, S3, CDN, delta updates.
- Observability stack (Prometheus/Grafana/ELK) and APM.
- Familiarity with Node.js services and Angular portals.
- Infrastructure as code (Helm/Terraform) and cost/performance optimization.
- Experience with Kafka Streams or Flink a plus.
($130,000 - $160,000 DOE), plus benefits and incentive plans
