Staff Technical Writer

About the Role

Fivetran’s documentation receives rave reviews from our customers—it is a core part of our product. The Technical Communications Team owns technical documentation and in-product text. Our globally distributed team of technical writers collaborates with product managers, engineers, designers, and support to produce world-class documentation and UI copy that helps our customers succeed.

As a Staff Technical writer, your mission is to make Fivetran docs a shining beacon of documentation excellence. You will write and edit documentation that empowers our customers to use Fivetran and understand how our product works. You’ll collaborate with engineers, product managers, support engineers, and other technical writers. You join a friendly team of technical writers distributed among our international offices.

This is a full-time position based out of our Novi Sad office. Our hybrid work model offers a blend of remote flexibility and in-person collaboration, including two days in the office each week to connect and build as a team.

• →Independently update and create, or lead others to update and create content based on product or program changes (user guides, conceptual pages, release notes, tutorials, how-to articles, etc.)
• →Write, review, and enhance UX content
• →Use a docs-as-code approach to maintain documentation
• →Lead collaborations with subject matter experts to understand new technologies or subjects, independently identify and extract information that users need, and collaborate on iterations of content drafts
• →Plan content and information architecture for large or complex projects
• →Collaborate with technical writers to refine standards, style, and terminology
• →Contribute to style guides and templates

• 6+ years of experience writing about software or cloud applications for a developer audience
• Proven experience documenting SaaS applications
• Excellent English grammar, writing, and editing skills
• Ability to craft clear, concise technical documentation
• Strong skills in information architecture and technical editing
• Collaborative experience in globally distributed teams
• Strong organization, adaptability, and customer empathy
• Agility to manage multiple initiatives concurrently in a cross-functional environment

• Familiar with using AI to automate workflows
• Familiarity with docs-as-code, GitHub, Markdown, CLI, and HTML
• Familiarity with data connectors and ETL/ELT
• Knowledge of Python or Java, SQL, data pipelines, and cloud warehouses
