Job description:

We are seeking experienced Superintendents with direct, hands-on experience delivering water and wastewater infrastructure projects to join our dynamic civil team. The successful candidate brings deep field knowledge of water/wastewater construction projects, including treatment plants, pump stations, reservoirs and associated process, mechanical, electrical and civil works. As a Superintendent - Water & Wastewater, you will work with multidisciplinary teams to meet performance, productivity, quality and safety standards on projects.

Responsibilities

  • Implements safety program in all site plans and procedures for assigned water/wastewater projects, ensuring compliance with safety and record-keeping requirements.
  • Supervises, coaches, trains and mentors the project team.
  • Effectively communicates with own forces and trades, ensuring performance, productivity, quality and safety requirements are met on water/wastewater projects.
  • Collaborates with the construction/project manager and project team to proactively manage potential problems, work interferences, and schedule conflicts.
  • Liases between field engineers, estimators, and subcontractors to ensure construction complies with drawings and specifications.
  • Liases with client, other site contractors, union and labor relations, and site and office representatives.
  • Visualizes the full lifecycle of a water/wastewater project, plans and creates the complete project schedule, identifies the critical path, and anticipates constructability issues.
  • Develops and implements the Project Execution Plan and three-week lookahead schedules, integrating process installation, testing, commissioning, and turnover requirements typical of water and wastewater facilities.
  • Maintains and executes the project plan and schedule, ensuring budget and quality compliance.
  • Reviews and understands the contract and subcontracts and develops a plan that identifies and mitigates risks and maximizes opportunities to ensure all financial targets, including budgets, forecasts, and profitability levels are met.
  • Maintains project administration correspondence and complies with documentation requirements.
  • Develops and maintains strong customer-focused relationships with all stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Journeyperson certificate or Bachelor's degree or diploma in a related discipline; NCSO designation required; enrollment in the Gold Seal program preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in field supervision, with direct experience supervising water/wastewater construction projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of the construction industry, with demonstrated expertise in water and wastewater construction, including materials, specifications, methods and procedures.
  • Understanding of project scope and ability to apply engineering principles to water and wastewater construction plans and schedules.
  • Proficient in scheduling software and logic application.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple scopes of a construction project, including scheduling and monitoring own forces work (OFW) and trade contractors.
  • Thorough understanding of productivity rates, Labor Cost Reports (LCRs) and cost report interpretation.
  • Knowledge of contract language, risk mitigation and opportunity identification.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety and environmental principles, procedures and legislation, including those governing water/wastewater treatment, environmental protection and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to lead effective site meetings and interview or present at client meetings for project pursuits.
