The First Nations University of Canada (FNUniv) allows students of all nations to learn in an environment of First Nations cultures and values. The Indigenous Youth Entrepreneurship Camp was established in 2009, and its purpose is to provide students an opportunity to learn skills in marketing, advertising, cash flow projections and business plan preparation. Furthermore, students will visit local businesses, hear from Indigenous entrepreneurs, participate in entrepreneurship case studies, and produce their own promotional materials.
The Indigenous Business and Public Administration program at the Regina Campus invites First Nations University of Canada students to apply for the part-time term Indigenous Youth Entrepreneurship Camp - Assistant Coordinator position.
Duties:
Develop sponsorship proposals and solicit sponsorship support for the camp
Review and revise the IYEC manual
Promote the camp to schools, youth groups and community associations
Identify/contact resource people, e.g. suppliers, vendors,
Assist with planning and scheduling camp activities.
Assist with supervision of students during the week of the camp.
Assist with administration and reporting
Develop a database of IYEC alumni
Qualifications:
Preferably post-secondary students are encouraged to apply.
Experience working with youth is an asset. Applicants will have strong
organizational and communication skills. Experience facilitating camps for Indigenous youth is beneficial.
The student must be reliable, responsible and punctual.
The successful candidate will be required to provide a criminal record check and a valid driver’s license.
Hours of work: Up to 20 hours per week
Salary Range: Commensurate with education and experience
