Senior Software Engineer

Our team develops and maintains the service and infrastructure behind GoDaddy’s backup system, supporting hosting platforms including WordPress, cPanel, and Airo AI Builder sites. We operate a mission-critical system that performs daily backups for over 2 million customer websites and applications, ensuring data protection and business continuity at a massive scale.

  Design, build, and maintain backend services powering GoDaddy’s backup infrastructure.

• →

  Develop and enhance RESTful APIs that integrate across multiple hosting platforms.

• →

  Work on distributed systems handling backups for 2+ million websites daily.

• →

  Improve system scalability, reliability, and performance in a high-availability environment.

• →

  Collaborate cross-functionally with Hosting, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Customer Care, UI/UX, Security, and Architecture teams.

  Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.

  Conduct code reviews and contribute to shared engineering standards and best practices.

  Support monitoring, incident response, and on-call responsibilities to maintain system health.

  Contribute to architectural decisions that shape the future of our backup platform.

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.

• Strong backend RESTful API development experience in production environments.

• Proficiency in a general-purpose programming language such as Go, Python, PHP, or NodeJS.

• Experience integrating a broad variety of technologies via API consumption and production.

• Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, and reliability principles.

• Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns.

• Experience working in Agile environments, participating in sprint ceremonies.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, product, and operations partners.  

• Passion for clean code, coding standards, and long-term system health.

• Experience with AWS cloud services.

• Experience building CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation solutions.

• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.

• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases and data modeling.

• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tooling (logging, metrics, alerting).

• A strong ownership mentality with the ability to work independently.
