Greenhouse is an award-winning communications agency with a mission to power positive social and environmental change. We’re not like other agencies – our purpose is to have a positive impact on the world. We’re a mission-driven business and our clients work in sectors where we can have the biggest impact on the transition to net-zero and beyond; from energy and clean tech to nature and conservation, from food and health to finance and transport.

We are looking for an experienced Press Officer to join our team on a full-time permanent contract. This hands-on role will be dedicated to media relations for one of our largest and most influential retained clients. This is a rare opportunity to work in world-leading climate science, helping communicate clear data and evidence to global audiences at a time when climate action has never mattered more.

The successful candidate will confidently lead the delivery of a fast-paced global press office, with a successful track record of balancing excellent client service, strong media engagement and project management.

Working daily with international journalists, scientists and senior leaders to drive media impact, you’ll manage multiple opportunities at once, respond quickly to inbound requests and urgent media moments, and stay on top of stories and trends. You will also support media delivery for regular milestones, from monthly press releases to globally significant flagship reports. You’ll combine strong judgement, meticulous attention to detail and creativity with the ability to turn complex information into clear, engaging messages.

Key responsibilities

Press office & media relations

  • Manage day-to-day inbound press enquiries and coordinate timely, accurate responses.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists and key client contacts.
  • Develop trusted relationships with the client’s communications team, key stakeholders and spokespeople, helping communicate their work effectively and accurately.
  • Distribute press releases, pitches, statements, briefings and other media materials.
  • Maintain and develop a comprehensive media database, ensuring contacts are up to date and enquiries are accurately logged in a timely manner.
  • Proactively offer feedback and guidance to spokespeople to support ongoing improvement.
  • Build and maintain internal databases of commentary, data, insights and information for rapid future use.

Proactive media & content development

  • Stay up to date with relevant news and identify opportunities for proactive media engagement.
  • Lead and support the development of press materials, including press releases, commentary and pitches.
  • Support the team to develop creative and effective media strategies and ways of working.
  • Identify opportunities to engage non-traditional media, including podcasts and influencers.

Reporting and evaluation

  • Work collaboratively with the wider team to inform regular reporting on inbound metrics and coverage results, including leading the development of weekly coverage updates.
  • Share daily roundups of coverage and inbound media enquiries with the client.
  • Keep reporting structures up to date and regularly inform the team on activity.

Team collaboration

  • Share press office experience and best practice with colleagues, helping the wider team stay aware of upcoming activity.
  • Push through ideas and initiatives that will keep Greenhouse efficient and progressive.
  • Support the wider Greenhouse team in creating a strong, high-performing culture in line with our values.

We want this person to help us push boundaries and take our work to the next level. They’ll need to be curious, ambitious and ready to take on a challenge, including being comfortable with some uncertainty.
