Performs the daily activities within the Upholstery Shop area including panel prep, installing coverings and assembly. Prepares all parts for finish and applies final finish of aircraft interior components according to engineering, company quality standards and operating procedures under minimal supervision.

This is a temporary assignment employed through an agency. 

Responsibilities

  • Safely performs component preparation, covering and assembly under minimal supervision in accordance with current technical data required in the manufacturers’ instructions for continued airworthiness, government and industry standard practices, and other data acceptable to or approved by the FAA.
  • Responsible for the preparation for coverings including fabric, leather and Tedlar.
  • Performs preparations and installations on and off wing.
  • Performs on aircraft interior modifications, installations, or maintenance tasks as assigned,
  • Assists the Upholstery Lead related to finish requirements to support the master production schedule.
  • Interpret material specs and engineering drawings to ensure upholstered components meet the design spec, quality standards and customer expectations.
  • Ensures that work orders and forms used for traceability are properly executed.
  • Ensures the shop equipment and tools are maintained in good working order.
  • Ensures the shop premises are maintained in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Wears safety equipment as required and practices safety guidelines/procedures, including Hazardous Materials guidelines.
  • Maintains regular attendance including being at work, being on time to work and working full shifts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent. Three years of upholstery experience, preferably in the corporate aviation completion environment or other high-end industries such as yachts, luxury motor coaches, etc.

 

Employees working on programs subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations must qualify as a US Person which is defined as a US Citizen, a Permanent Resident who does not work for a foreign company, foreign government, foreign governmental agency or organization, or a political asylee for legal compliance purposes.

  • Experience in preparation of decorative coverings including fabric, leather, and Tedlar.
  • Ability to communicate in English (read, write, and verbally communicate)
  • Display good communication, time-management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to select and work with proper tools for job tasks.
  • Mathematical knowledge and ability to apply towards problem solving.
  • Exhibits hand-eye coordination skills
  • Ability to work independently and cross-functionally as part of an established and growing team.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • Ability to work outside of core business hours as required.

 

Requirements

  • Able to comply with DOT/FAA Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.
  • Able to climb and work on step stools and/or ladders.
  • Able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without assistance and ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds with assistance.
  • Able to reach overhead.
  • Able to work in a non-dust-free environment.
  • Normal or corrected vision (required to perform exacting tasks).
  • Full range of motion with both hands.
  • Ability to work in a stooping, kneeling or standing position and in cramped areas.

The expected WA salary range for this position is between $46,000.00 - $58,000.00. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, education, location, and other factors permitted by law.
