 Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide specialist services.
2. Supervise Residents undergoing specialist training.
3. Undertake administrative work.
4. Undergo continuing medical education and professional development.

Entry Requirements:

1. Registered medical practitioner under the Medical Registration Ordinance; and
2. Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (Obstetrics & Gynaecology) or equivalent; and

3. Registered in the Specialist Register in the relevant specialty of the Medical Council of Hong Kong.

    

Preferable Attributes/Exposure:

1. Staff members in the rank are expected to meet the 4 core competencies set for the Associate Consultant post. They are:

   1. Functional competency.

   2. Personal competency.

   3. People and team competency.

   4. Organization effectiveness.

2. Contribution to professional development including research, teaching and training.

2. Candidates who have not acquired the entry requirements under 2 and 3 but have passed the exit examination and completed the necessary specialist training requirements before the application deadline may apply. If found suitable for appointment, they may be appointed to the post subject to their production of the required qualifications, i.e. FHKAM and specialist registration within 12 months after appointment to the post.
