About the Role
~1 min readIn this role as Facilities Technician II – Sterile, you will serve as the primary on-site maintenance resource supporting a 503B sterile compounding facility. This role will play a key part in preparing the site for operations by supporting equipment installation, building preventive maintenance programs, and developing standard operating procedures (SOPs).
During the initial ramp-up phase, you will partner with Engineering, Operations, and vendors to support facility readiness, including equipment commissioning and maintenance program development. Once operational, you will own day-to-day maintenance activities across production equipment, lab systems, and facility infrastructure.
This role requires strong ownership, sound technical judgment, and the ability to operate independently while coordinating vendors for specialized support. You will help ensure equipment reliability, safety, and compliance in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
Act as the primary on-site contact for equipment and facility issues, ensuring timely resolution or escalation to vendors
Support facility buildout, equipment installation, and commissioning activities in partnership with vendors and internal teams
Develop and implement preventive maintenance (PM) programs and SOPs for new and existing equipment
Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, and facility systems
Coordinate and manage external vendors for specialized maintenance, repairs, and service activities
Maintain facility systems and infrastructure, including HVAC and utilities, to support operational readiness
Track maintenance activities, work orders, and equipment history within CMMS systems
Establish and manage spare parts inventory to minimize downtime risk
Partner with Operations and Quality to ensure maintenance activities align with production needs and compliance requirements
Identify equipment trends and implement practical improvements to enhance reliability and performance
Follow all safety procedures and support a safe, compliant working environment
5+ years of experience in facilities, maintenance, or equipment support within a manufacturing or regulated environment
Demonstrated ability to operate independently and take ownership of site equipment and facility operations
Experience supporting equipment installation, commissioning, or startup activities
Proven experience building, improving, or executing preventive maintenance (PM) programs and SOPs
Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems and basic electrical troubleshooting
Experience managing or coordinating external vendors and service providers
Familiarity with CMMS systems for tracking maintenance activities and equipment history
Solid organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment
Working knowledge of safety practices (e.g., lockout/tagout); GMP or regulated environment experience is a plus
Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, and leadership
