Hover helps people design, improve, and protect the properties they love. With proprietary AI built on over a decade of real property data, Hover answers age-old questions like “What will it look like?” and “What will it cost?” Homeowners, contractors, and insurance professionals rely on Hover to get fully measured, accurate, and interactive 3D models of any property — all from a smartphone scan in minutes.
At Hover, we’re driven by curiosity, purpose, and a shared commitment to serving our customers, communities, and each other. We believe the best ideas come from diverse perspectives and are proud to cultivate an inclusive, high-performance culture that inspires growth, accountability, and excellence. Backed by leading investors like Google Ventures and Menlo Ventures, and trusted by industry leaders including Travelers, State Farm, and Nationwide — we’re redefining how people understand and interact with their spaces.
Hover's Inspections product is the primary way our insurance customers document, measure, and act on the condition of a property. Today, it runs almost entirely on React Native, and we’re looking to change that. We are looking for a Senior iOS Engineer to lead the transition of this product to native code, starting with iOS. You'll be the go-to technical authority for how inspections get built natively going forward, working shoulder-to-shoulder with our SDK and Mobile Core teams to bring the same polish our platform SDKs are known for to the Inspections experience. This is a role for someone who wants real ownership over a loosely-defined migration, not just a set of tickets. You'll decide how we get there, and you'll help shape what "there" looks like.
You'll take a product that's still being defined and bring clarity to it, identifying bugs and opportunities as you go deep on how inspections actually work today. From there, you'll build the roadmap for moving Inspections to native, balancing forward progress with a live product that thousands of contractors and insurance professionals rely on every day. You'll break big, ambiguous initiatives down into scoped pieces of work, some of which you'll own yourself, some you'll hand off to other teammates. Along the way, you’ll partner closely with Product and Design to solve problems together. Being successful in this role means you'll be the connective tissue between the Inspections team, the SDK team, and Mobile Core.
- Own the technical direction for moving the Inspections product from React Native to native iOS and in the longer term from native iOS to an SDK
- Diagnose and resolve reliability and consistency issues in the current inspections flow
- Decompose ambiguous, multi-month initiatives into workstreams for yourself, and your teammates.
- Partner with Product and Design on scoping tradeoffs while keeping the end user experience front and center
- Communicate proactively with a diverse customer base ahead of, during, and after rollouts
- 5+ years of mobile engineering experience, with 2+ years focused specifically on native iOS (Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit) in production
- Experience building or maintaining a bridge layer between React Native and native code
- Comfort with Xcode and the build, signing, and provisioning process
- A track record of turning ambiguous problems into a scoped plan, for yourself and for others
- Strong collaborative communication — you work with Product and Design to find a path forward
- Comfort communicating change to a large, varied customer base
- Experience with camera-centric native apps (photo/video capture, on-device processing)
- Experience deploying on-device AI/ML models
- Experience contributing to React Native codebases, especially RN-to-native migrations
