Job Summary: The Biomedical Researcher II oversees biomedical research projects and assumes responsibility for the day-to-day activity supporting project. Makes significant contributions to the planning and design of research and creative projects. Assists in short- and long-term planning and project goals. May assist with research and creative proposals and dissemination of project findings.
Additional Department Summary: Leads independent research as well as assisting Principal Investigators (PIs) affiliated with the Alabama Life Research Institute (ALRI) with managing and analyzing research data. Trains PI’s students in data collection and analysis and collaborating with PIs on experimental design. Conducts research in area of expertise and obtains federally funded grants to support research. Develops and delivers ALRI’s undergraduate research training program, including creating and maintaining training materials and presentations techniques. Contributes to the planning and design of research and creative projects and lead research, including federally funded grants, as well as support research and creative activities such as data analysis, monitoring outcomes, performing lab maintenance, and/or performing experiments and creating creative projects of ALRI affiliated faculty.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of biomedical or closely related research experience; OR master's degree and two (2) years of biomedical or closely related research experience; OR doctoral degree and some biomedical or closely related research experience. Post-Baccalaureate degree is highly preferred (Master’s degree or higher).
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
Skills and Knowledge: Ability to work well on teams. Demonstrated promise of moving towards excellence in professional leadership, practice, and/or research and scholarly activities.
Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in related, experienced in community-based research. Some postdoctoral training. Experience training students.
