Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm


Job Summary: The Book Design and Production Assistant assists with the design of book covers and interiors. Assesses cover art quality and appropriateness. Typesets approximately interiors per year. Designs and prepares for outside typesetter. Sets style sheets in InDesign and provides type specifications to typesetter. Converts jackets to covers and sets new copyright page for new-in-paper titles.


Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and four (4) years of graphic design or print production experience; OR associate's degree and two (2) years of graphic design or print production experience; OR bachelor's degree and some graphic design or print production experience.


Skills and Knowledge: Proficient in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop on Mac. Superior attention to detail. Excellent time management skills. Verbal and written communication skills. Awareness of book and cover design trends.


Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of experience, to include some experience with print production and typesetting. Experience with Adobe Illustrator.
