As a Manager, Strategic Communications, you’ll lead strategic communications engagements for healthcare clients, turning complex business and industry challenges into clear, actionable strategies. You’ll serve as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders while guiding integrated campaigns across earned, owned, shared, and paid channels. The role combines client leadership, strategic planning, team management, and campaign execution in a collaborative, cross-functional environment. You’ll shape narratives, messaging, audience strategies, and communications plans while ensuring high-quality delivery against client objectives. You’ll also use market intelligence, audience insights, and performance data to optimize campaigns and identify emerging opportunities. This position offers the opportunity to mentor developing talent, strengthen client relationships, and contribute to the growth of a healthcare-focused communications portfolio.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for key client stakeholders, providing strategic counsel and managing day-to-day account relationships.
  • Translate complex healthcare challenges and client priorities into integrated communications strategies across earned, owned, shared, and paid channels.
  • Lead client meetings and present strategic recommendations, campaign updates, performance insights, and growth opportunities to senior stakeholders.
  • Oversee account operations, including scopes, budgets, timelines, staffing, deliverables, and risk management.
  • Develop audience strategies, narrative frameworks, message platforms, communications plans, executive materials, and campaign assets.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams across communications, managed care, creative, media, digital, analytics, finance, and revenue cycle.
  • Delegate assignments, review deliverables, provide actionable feedback, and mentor junior team members.
  • Monitor healthcare trends, regulatory developments, media coverage, and managed care activity to develop timely client recommendations.
  • Establish campaign objectives and performance measures, using audience insights and data to evaluate results and optimize strategies.
  • Identify opportunities to expand client relationships and contribute to renewals, proposals, and new business initiatives.

Requirements

  • 5–7 years of experience in healthcare communications, marketing, or strategy, preferably in an agency, consulting, or client-service environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading integrated communications strategies across earned, owned, shared, and paid channels.
  • Proven ability to manage healthcare client relationships, advise senior stakeholders, and translate complex information into clear recommendations.
  • Strong writing, editing, presentation, facilitation, and client communication skills.
  • Experience developing communications plans, message platforms, executive materials, and client-facing presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage multiple priorities and scopes, and coach junior professionals.
  • Experience using campaign data, performance metrics, audience research, and market insights to evaluate results and inform strategy.
  • Intermediate Excel skills are preferred.
  • Knowledge of managed care, healthcare reimbursement, regulatory developments, and payer-provider relationships is preferred.
  • Experience with media monitoring or PR platforms such as Cision or Meltwater is a plus.
  • Authorization to work in the United States is required, with work visa requirements subject to the role’s hiring conditions.
  • Ability to work on a hybrid schedule near Chicago, Nashville, or New York may be required.
