This is a hands-on senior design role focused on shaping the experience of a growing learning platform used across admissions, education, grading, career development, and reporting. You will own product experience design from discovery through implementation, with a strong emphasis on user flows, information architecture, and interaction design. You will also establish and maintain the design system that brings consistency across the platform as it scales. Working closely with students, staff, product managers, and engineers, you will turn ambiguous problems into clear, build-ready solutions. The role offers an opportunity to shape AI-powered learning experiences and other high-impact product initiatives. You will work as an individual contributor with significant ownership while directing a UI design contractor to extend your output.

Design end-to-end user flows, navigation structures, information architecture, wireframes, prototypes, and specifications across the learning platform.
Own the product design system, including interaction patterns, reusable components, standards, and guidelines that ensure a consistent experience.
Conduct lightweight product discovery by speaking with students, staff, and internal stakeholders to identify needs and clarify ambiguous product problems.
Partner with product managers to translate prioritized initiatives into clear, engineer-ready designs.
Collaborate closely with engineers throughout development to answer design questions, evaluate feasibility, and refine solutions.
Identify and redesign platform areas that lack dedicated product ownership, including accounts, onboarding, navigation, and other foundational experiences.
Contribute to the design of student-facing career experiences, personalized learning journeys, skills tracking, employer-connected pathways, and AI-powered tutoring, coaching, and grading tools.
Direct and provide design guidance to a UI design contractor to extend design capacity and ensure consistency with the overall product vision.
Establish and maintain a high standard for experience quality across the platform.
Communicate design rationale, decisions, and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

6+ years of experience designing web products end-to-end, with a portfolio demonstrating strong thinking around flows, structure, interaction design, and design process.
Strong information architecture and interaction design skills, with the ability to turn ambiguous problems into intuitive navigation models, user flows, and detailed specifications.
Demonstrated experience conducting user and stakeholder discovery independently rather than relying solely on fully defined product briefs.
Experience building and owning a design system, including components, interaction patterns, and standards.
Strong proficiency with Figma or a comparable design tool and experience producing engineer-ready wireframes, prototypes, and specifications.
Comfort working in small, fast-moving teams with significant ownership, ambiguity, and limited design support.
Working knowledge of front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and Tailwind, with enough technical fluency to collaborate effectively with engineers and assess implementation feasibility.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to prioritize effectively, make decisions with incomplete information, and maintain a high standard of product quality.
Passion for education and motivation to create products that expand access to meaningful learning and career opportunities.
Experience designing for education, marketplaces, or data-intensive products is preferred.
Experience as a first or early design hire is a plus.
Familiarity with how AI and LLM-powered features influence product design is a plus.
For U.S.-based applicants, annual compensation is $148,000–$190,000; compensation is adjusted based on location for applicants based in Canada, LATAM, and Europe.
