You will serve as a technical-commercial resource within the front-end sales organization, engaging customers to understand their assets, operating environments, and long-term requirements. By identifying modernization, optimization, monitoring, and service opportunities, you will help turn technical challenges into practical and commercially viable solutions. The position involves close collaboration with sales teams, engineers, service specialists, and customer technical and operational stakeholders. You will contribute throughout the opportunity lifecycle, from early discovery and qualification through proposals and order development. Regular customer engagement, site visits, industry events, and travel across the United States make this a highly relationship-driven role.
- Engage with customers to understand their substation assets, operating environments, maintenance practices, operational challenges, and future requirements.
- Identify, develop, and qualify opportunities related to substation optimization, maintenance, modernization, monitoring, and lifecycle services.
- Support front-end sales teams in assessing opportunities, defining next steps, developing pipelines, and progressing opportunities toward orders.
- Build trusted relationships with customer technical and operational stakeholders while providing credible substation expertise.
- Apply technical knowledge of substation equipment, systems, operations, and maintenance to identify customer needs and potential service opportunities.
- Participate in customer meetings, site visits, industry events, and trade shows, providing technical support and strengthening market relationships.
- Translate customer challenges and technical discussions into commercially viable opportunities, solutions, and value propositions.
- Collaborate with internal technical specialists and assessment teams to develop solutions aligned with customer requirements.
- Support proposals, pipeline activities, forecasting, and sales initiatives from initial engagement through order execution.
- Assess asset age, maintenance approaches, operating conditions, and potential lifecycle or modernization requirements to identify areas for improvement.
- Share customer insights, market intelligence, and emerging opportunities with the broader sales and service organization.
- Maintain accurate opportunity information and contribute to effective pipeline management and forecasting.
- Travel extensively across the United States to support customer engagements and business development activities.
Requirements
~2 min read- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience of 10+ years.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in substations, electrical infrastructure, power systems, or a related industry.
- Strong technical understanding of substation assets, systems, operations, maintenance, and lifecycle management.
- Demonstrated experience working with substations in a customer-facing environment, ideally within operations and maintenance, field services, engineering services, technical sales, or service sales.
- Commercial experience identifying customer needs, developing opportunities, and supporting the sales process from initial engagement through proposal and order.
- Experience selling or supporting substation services, maintenance, modernization, optimization, monitoring, or related solutions.
- Strong customer-facing communication and relationship-building abilities, with the credibility to engage technical and operational stakeholders.
- Ability to understand complex customer challenges, determine appropriate next steps, and help advance opportunities through the sales cycle.
- Experience serving utility, industrial, data center, oil and gas, renewable energy, or other large electrical infrastructure customers is advantageous.
- Experience with a substation equipment, service, maintenance, engineering, or electrical infrastructure provider is strongly preferred.
- Strong presentation, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout the United States, with occasional international travel as required.
- Must already have authorization to work in the United States; sponsorship is not available.
